Decide on a university/college and course
Upon choosing to study in UK, decide what you want to study and where you intend studying. UK houses around 200 globally recognized universities with numerous study courses. To choose the course that best suites you, research extensively on the courses in UK, colleges/universities. Check course entry requirements on the university's websites. For further clarifications, directly contact the university who will aid you in finding the desired information.
Shortlist universities offering degree courses in their professional field, review modules, course structure. Finally select your college of interest. Research at least one month before the application deadline.
Entry requirement in UK
UNDERGRADUATE
- 80- 85% for Engineering, Law and Management, required by most universities. Universities, ranking high for specific subjects, might require minimum 90%. IB- 38-40 points and A levels- AAA preferred.
- Arts, Social Science, Humanities and Computer Science- 70- 80%
- Students scoring below 60% can choose Foundation and Diploma courses to seek admission into better ranked universities.
- Students should be 18 years of age before joining a degree program.
POSTGRADUATE
- Most universities prefer overall 60% marks in the undergraduate degree. Some universities, particularly the ranked Business Schools, require minimum 70- 75% for their Masters courses.
- Some universities accept 50- 60%, additional work experience or qualification counts.
- A Pre- Masters, followed by a Masters course can be opted by students with low percentages.
- A GMAT score between 600- 700 for Finance courses as well as MBA- required by some universities.
- For an MBA, one should have work experience (0- 4 years). Many universities accept students without work experience, they can pursue MBA after graduation.
- AMBA accredited University requirements- GMAT+ 25 years of age+ minimum 3 years full time work experience after graduation. At least 1 year of Senior level Management experience is preferred.
ENGLISH REQUIREMENT
Students should meet IELTS requirements. It not only determines one’s English language ability, is valid for 2 years and can be used when seeking internships in UK.
- Undergraduate requirement- 6.0 with 5.5 minimum in each band
- Postgraduate requirement- 6.5 with 6.0 minimum in each band
In some Media, English and Management related courses, the English requirement can be up to 7.0. Marks scored in English in XII (up to 75%) is also considered by some universities who waive off the English requirement, subject to university's decision.

Attested copies of X, XII mark sheets + Bachelor’s degree.
- Two academic reference letters from Professors who have recently taught you.
- Anyone possessing work experience- two Letters of Recommendation from the manager who knows you and can highlight on your professional abilities.
- Statement of Purpose(SOP)
- Resume
- Photocopied reports of GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL exam scores
- Portfolio (for students applying for architecture programs, art and design courses)
- Others (certificates/ achievements at the State and National level, extracurricular activities)

Apply for a Student Visa
Visa application process has become simple, following the introduction of PBS (Point Based System). One needs to achieve 40 points to be eligible for the Student Visa. UK student visa is labeled as TIER 4(General). Along with the Letter of Admission, the university also provides you with a reference number- Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies(CAS), which proves that one has been offered a place at a UK college and is eligible for a Student Visa. The normal length of visa will be the full length of the course plus 4- 6 months based on the program duration.
Apply for a Student Accommodation
Undergraduates and postgraduates are guaranteed accommodation by several universities in their Halls of Residence, for at least the first year at university, provided they inform the university before the deadline.
- On Campus: College hostels (self- catered/ fully catered)
- Off Campus: Renting/leasing a property with friends or by yourself through a real estate agent/privately
- Homestay: Live with families in their homes
