In France, the SMIC (Salaire Minimum Interprofessionnel de Croissance), or legally guaranteed minimum wage, applies to all occupations. The minimum SMIC pay in France will be 10.25 EUR as of January 1st, 2021. To calculate real earnings (i.e., 8.20 EUR/hour), some social security contributions that are required by law must be subtracted from this gross wage (around 20%). At minimum pay and 10 hours per week of labour, a student would make around 82 EUR net.
