2. Arrange for Proofs for the Cost of Studying and Living in Canada

  1. Tuition fees for the first year of the course: On receipt of a Letter of Acceptance from a credible learning institute in Canada, the candidate may be asked to submit the tuition fees for the first year of the course of application. This course fee for international students in Canada is varies conditional to factors like the university or college of application, the duration of the course, the field of study, and whether it is an undergraduate or postgraduate course.
  2. Other fees: In addition to the university fees for international students in Canada, one needs to display proof of enough funds to support his/ her education abroad. The minimum amount of funds you should have to support yourself as a student is a part of obtaining your study permit and procuring a Canadian student visa.
  3. These funds can be arranged by procuring a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC), taking an education loan, or having a sponsor to support finances.
  4. Purchase of Guaranteed Investment Certificate(GIC): GIC is a part of the documents essential to obtain a student permit as a part of the financial proof. Every candidate has to buy a special Guaranteed Investment Certificate from any of the participating banks like Nova Scotia Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Canada Bank, and CIBC Bank for an amount of CAD 10,200 (INR 5,50,000/-) to adjust the living expenses of the first year. Approximately CAD 200 (INR10,800/-) is deducted as the bank administrative charges which may vary from bank to bank.
  5. Upon arrival in Canada, the candidate receives CAD 2000 (INR 108000) promptly. Further, CAD 8000 (INR 440000) is paid to the students in 12 equal installments as each month’s living expenses.

3. Application Process

An application fee is charged by each institution depending on the program of application. Discrete for Canadian natives and international students, application fees may range from CAD 45 to CAD 200 (INR 2400 to 11000/-).

4. Apply for a Study Permit

To apply for a study permit in Canada, a fee of CAD 150 (INR 8000/-) has to be paid and for the biometrics, a fee of CAD 85 (INR 4500/-) is charged.

5. Apply for a Medical test

A candidate should pay the entire fees related to the medical examination when in India. Also, it should be noted that you cannot get yourself tested by any doctor of your choice but have to choose one as per a panel suggested by the Canadian government.

6. Booking the Flight Tickets

For travelling to Canada, you can opt to fly in a direct flight from India to Canada or with stop-overs. The cost of tickets varies accordingly and may range from INR 90,000 to 2 lacs.
