Tropical North Queensland TAFE (CRICOS Code 02012B) is owned by the Queensland State Government and has been established for over 50 years. In 2009, Tropical North Queensland TAFE was awarded Queensland’s Public Provider of the Year.

With 9 campuses and more than 13,000 students each year, we are the largest provider of vocational education and training in Cairns and the Tropical North Queensland region. Approximately 200 international students from 40 countries enrol in vocational courses at the Institute each year.
Our teachers come from industry and regularly return to work in their industry to ensure that their knowledge and skills remain current and relevant. They have a teaching qualification, an industry qualification as well as years of experience in the industry that they are teaching.
Location & Facilities
TAFE Queensland North extends from the Whitsundays, Airlie Beach and Cannovale area on the east coast of Queensland, across the west to Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Normanton (Lower Gulf) then north to Bamaga and Thursday Island at the tip of the Cape York Peninsula.
The largest of all the regions in Queensland we cover an area of over 520,000 square kilometres.
