If you prefer to take a course in a traditional classroom, we have three centers at easy-to-get-to locations: downtown Berkeley, downtown San Francisco and Belmont. Take advantage of the in-person setting to network with your classmate and instructors, log on to a computer to finish your homework, and tap into the energy of classroom discussions. This isn’t your undergrad environment. Sure, you’ll gain the theoretical knowledge, but you will also apply that information through real-world scenarios. How? Your instructors bring years of field experience to the classroom, regaling you with tales from the front lines- valuable insight into how they tackled challenges and built their careers. Your instructors not only love to teach, but love to teach their subjects. Win-win. Taking courses here means you become part of a robust learning and professional community. Network with your classmates and your instructors. Attend a free public event centered on a thought-provoking subject. Your experience with us will be educational, inspiring and lifelong.

Location & Facilities

Berkeley: Golden Bear Center, 1995 University Ave.Berkeley, CA 94704

Campus: Wherever you look on campus, you will see the brightest students and faculty from all over the world gathering together to build friendships and learn from one another. Berkeley is known for welcoming students from all nationalities-we are part of a global community. Not only are you welcome here, but you belong here.

City: Berkeley is a city in Northern California on the east side of San Francisco Bay. Downtown Berkeley offers cinemas, live theater and music, among other attractions. Berkeley is also home to diverse cultures, food and traditions unique to California, but also from around the world. Living in Berkeley means getting to know the UC Berkeley campus, sampling local organic foods at a weekend farmers' market, relaxing at a sidewalk café or enjoying a hike in the wooded Berkeley hills.

Accommodation: Dormitories : are recommended if you want a structured atmosphere with opportunities to meet new people through planned activities. Meals are sometimes provided, and you will likely have a roommate who is not a UC Berkeley Extension international student.

Private or shared Apartments: Apartments are recommended if you want to be more independent or prefer a quieter atmosphere for studying.

Homestays: A homestay is a private room in a local family home, and homestay opportunities are available in San Francisco, Berkeley and nearby areas. Features include meal options, Wi-Fi, laundry, use of family areas and English spoken in homes. We recommend using one of the homestay programs listed at Universal Student Housing.

Other facilities: At UC Berkeley Extension, we have an entire office dedicated to supporting our international students. We are there each step of the way to help from the application process to your time in Berkeley and after your program ends. Our goal is that your Berkeley experience is positive, safe, fun and productive.

Part of each international program is the new-student orientation, where you go over program requirements, receive your class schedule and meet our staff.
