University of Wisconsin Superior - Overview

The University of Wisconsin-Superior is a dynamic public university of 2,589 students in the Duluth-Superior MN-WI metro area, which is on the western tip of Lake Superior.

Founded in 1893 as a teachers college, UW-Superior now offers more than 30 undergraduate majors and 5 graduate programs in the sciences, arts and professions. It joined the University of Wisconsin System in 1971.

• The strong academic programs. UW-Superior offers more than 40 undergraduate majors and concentrations that emphasize a challenging, well-rounded education and solid professional training. The university is nationally recognized as a member of the University of Wisconsin System, which is one of the largest and strongest public university systems in the United States.


• The personal attention and instruction. With an average class size of 17, students get a high level of interaction and support from faculty and staff.


• The quality learning environment. UW-Superior's campus is set in a residential neighborhood that is minutes away from the amenities of a dynamic medium-sized city and the beauty of Lake Superior, the largest lake in the world.


• The affordability and value. More than 90% of UW-Superior international students receive significant financial assistance ($5,600 to $7,500) through the Non-Resident Tuition Waiver (NTW) Program in the 2014-2015 academic year.

Currently, more than 140 international students from over 40 countries attend UW-Superior.
