Introduction

James Cook University Singapore (JCU Singapore) is the Singapore‑based branch campus of James Cook University (Australia). Established in 2003 and located at 149 Sims Drive between Kallang and Geylang in Singapore, the campus became the first Australian university institution in Singapore to be awarded “university status” in 2016, enabling it to fully present itself as JCU Singapore rather than a private college.

At this campus students receive the same Australian‑degree qualification as counterparts in Australia, with the added benefit of a trimester system allowing degrees (in many cases) to be completed faster than the traditional two‑semester system.

JCU Singapore offers a broad array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across fields such as business (with internationally recognized accreditation), psychology, environmental and marine sciences, information technology, aquaculture, and tourism & hospitality management.

The university places emphasis on research oriented to tropical issues (such as marine and terrestrial ecosystems, health in tropical regions, sustainable economies) and engages in both local and regional research activities via its Tropical Futures Institute.
