Choosing Edwise was a game changer when I decided to study abroad. The staff and my counselor were super friendly and every step became seamless with their assistance.

Facilities & Overview:-
Our official opening was November 17, 1913. We became the third post-secondary institution in Alberta.
Our history started earlier. The Vermilion Board of Trade lobbied the provincial government for an agricultural school. Eventually Vermilion was named a demonstration farm location in 1911. Then, it was selected as one of three schools of agriculture.
Over time the college has weathered closure during flu epidemic of 1918, tough economic times in the late 1920s and the Great Depression and during WW2.
We've had 4 name changes:
Vermilion School of Agriculture
Vermilion Agricultural & Vocational College (1963)
Vermilion College (1970)
Lakeland College (1975)
But our motto - Ever to Excel - has been the same since 1928.
Striving to excel has been the underpining of survival for a small college in a rural area. It's meant being responsive to the needs of the community and industry. While agricultural training has remained a foundation - today Lakeland offers diverse programming from environmental sciences to power engineering, early learning and child care to business, interior design to estheticis, and fire & emergency services to university transfer.
Entrance Awards & Scholarships - Criteria for selection includes academic excellence, leadership and involvement throughout high school. Accepted and provisionally accepted students will receive the Entrance Awards application form in early March. Deadline to apply is May 1.
Continuing Awards & Scholarships - Recognizes and rewards outstanding achievements of currently enrolled and continuing full-time students. Criteria for selection may include academic achievement, leadership skills and potential through involvement and participation in their program, student clubs, student government, college activities, sports activities and/or community organizations.
Many awards and scholarships need no application as selection is determined by the Awards Committee, recommendation of program faculty, or nomination.
For those awards and scholarships requiring application, forms will be made available from the Financial Aid & Awards Office well in advance of the application deadline. The application period for most is January of each year (deadline being January 31). However, some are selected at the end of the academic year.
