Scholarship
The University of the Incarnate Word offers a number of scholarships to first degree seeking undergraduate students. All merit based scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years as long as a minimum grade point average of 3.0 is maintained. All awards are given at the time of admission.
Freshmen Applicants
Students applying to university for the first time directly from high school. Awards are given based on high school grades and SAT or ACT test scores. The awards range from 8,000 - 12,000 dollars per year.
Transfer Applicants
Any student that is applying with a minimum of 24 degree seeking credits is considered a transfer student. All transfer students are automatically eligible for an academic scholarship based on their cumulative grade point average. These awards range from 8,000 - 12,000 dollars.
Catholic High School Award
Any student applying as a freshman and graduated from a Catholic High School is eligible for a 2,000 dollars award.
International Scholarship
International undergraduate students receive a one-time 1,000 dollars award for their first year.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Any student transferring from a US based college/university that is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society will receive an additional 2,000 dollars award.
Alamo Colleges Scholarships
Transfer students pursuing their first bachelor's degree, with most recent 24 credit hours from Alamo Colleges and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher will receive an additional $2,000 award.
Central/South American Scholarship
Any student that is applying to UIW from within their home country in the regions of Central and South American will receive a 20% tuition discount. Only students applying to UIW from within their home country and independently of a recruiting agent are eligible.
South Pacific Scholarship
Any student applying to UIW from within their home country of Indonesia, Philippines or Vietnam will receive a 20% tuition discount. Only students applying to UIW from within their home country and independently of a recruiting agent are eligible.
Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be either returning UIW students who have earned a minimum 3.6 cumulative grade point average or high school students who meet the Academic scholarship criteria established by the Admissions Office. Application deadline is in March each year.
UIW Alumni
Students graduating from UIW with a Bachelor's degree are eligible for a 25% tuition discount on their first 6 credit hours of graduate coursework. Students enrolled in professional and doctoral programs are not eligible.
Sister School Alumni
Students who have received a Bachelor's degree from one of UIW's sister school partners will receive a 15% tuition discount towards a Master's degree at UIW. This award does not apply to students who are part of special programs, cohorts, and/or recruited by third parties.
McCracken Alumni Referral Scholarship
This award is available to first-time, first semester students at UIW seeking their first Bachelor's degree. It is a one time 1,000 dollars award. Applicants must be accepted by February 1 for the Fall term and December 1 for the Spring term. UIW Alumni may nominate one student per academic year and notify the Alumni Office of nomination.
Upgrade your Aid
Any student that received an academic scholarship for their first year of attendance and maintained a minimum GPA of 3.2 will automatically receive an additional 1,000 dollars on their academic award.
