Academic Scholarships for New Freshman 2018-19
The following merit scholarships at Ohio Northern are awarded after acceptance to the University and are based on a formula taking into account academic performance and results of standardized testing. Weighted high school GPAs and super scores for ACT and/or SAT will be considered.

Presidential Scholarship: 19,000 dollars per year
Scholarship value over four years: 76,000 dollars
Trustee Scholarship: 17,000-18,000 dollars per year
Scholarship value over four years: 68,000-72,000 dollars
Deans Scholarship: 14,000-16,000 dollars per year
Scholarship value over four years: 56,000-64,000 dollars
Faculty Scholarship: 11,000-13,000 dollars per year
Scholarship value over four years: 44,000-52,000 dollars
Other Scholarships and Awards
Mathile Scholarship (Full-tuitionSelected students with a minimum ACT score of 30 (1390 SAT, evidence-based reading and writing plus math) and a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 will be considered for this award. Finalists will be invited to complete on-campus evaluations. Two full-tuition renewable scholarships will be awarded in honor of the contributions ONU alumnus, Clayton Mathile, and his wife Mary have made to Ohio Northern University. The Mathile Scholarship will replace all other ONU scholarships and awards.
James F. Dicke Scholarship (Full-tuition plus 1,000 dollars annual book stipend)
Students who are admitted to the James F. Dicke College of Business Administration and have a minimum ACT score of 29 (1350 SAT, evidence-based reading and writing plus math) and a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 will be considered for this award. A selection committee will determine finalists who will be invited to campus to interview. From these interviews one student will be chosen to receive the James F. Dicke Scholarship. The scholarship will renew each year for a maximum of four years. The James F. Dicke Scholarship will replace all other ONU scholarships and awards.
Talent Award (Up to 4,000 dollars per year with audition/portfolio review)
Talent awards are available to students who choose a major in the Department of Art & Design, Department of Music (majors and non-majors), Department of Theatre Arts or Department of English. Also, students who minor in dance or participate in any of the auditioned ensembles can qualify for a talent award. An audition, portfolio review and/or interview is required for talent award consideration in all these programs.
Dimension Award (1,000-7,000 dollars per year)
Ohio Northern University is committed to recruiting students from all segments of society and supporting their retention to graduation. The purpose of the Dimension Award is to offer financial assistance to incoming freshmen and transfers who are from underrepresented racial or ethnic backgrounds. Award amounts are based on academic credentials.
Legacy Award (3,000 dollars per year)
Awarded to legally dependent (defined by IRS) sons or daughters of ONU graduates or a prospective student who already has a sibling enrolled full-time at ONU.
Ministerial Deduction (Half-tuition per year)
Awarded to unmarried, legally dependent children, under the age of 25, of a licensed and ordained elder of the United Methodist Church who is currently under active appointment by the annual conference. This tuition reduction also applies to children of retired and deceased ministers. A separate application listing specific criteria is required. Financial need is not a factor. This award will be coordinated with all other university financial aid. Academic scholarships may be adjusted.
