Overview and Facilities
Established in 1978, Waiariki is one of the largest tertiary institutes outside the university centers. Originally developed as a centre for adult and trades education, Waiariki has been offering quality vocational studies for 29 years. Waiariki has a student population of around 9,000 full- and part-time students, of which 200 of these are from overseas. Waiariki began to offer bachelor degree Programmes in the early 1990s
Waiariki is the only New Zealand government-owned (public) tertiary education institution fully based in the Waiariki region which offers courses across campuses in Rotorua, Taupo, Tokoroa and Whakatane

WHAKATANE CAMPUS
Whakatane, the Pacific jewel of the Eastern Bay of Plenty, has a river mouth boat harbour, spacious ocean beaches and fertile countryside. The Whakatane campus is located about 6 kilometres from the central business district, and offers plenty of free on-campus parking

Waiariki Institute of Technology has two fully accredited accommodation options for international students
HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION
Waiariki House is hostel accommodation conveniently located in the centre of Rotorua city. It takes just minutes to walk to public transport, the famous Polynesian Spa, beautiful Lake Rotorua, Government Gardens, the Blue Baths, restaurants, cafés and shopping areas
Waiariki House has single and twin rooms available. All rooms have study desks, wardrobes, heaters and beds with fresh linen provided weekly. Cleaned daily, Waiariki House offers safe, clean, relaxed and friendly accommodation in a happy community

HOMESTAY ACCOMMODATION WITH A NEW ZEALAND FAMILY
Homestay accommodation is a unique way of familiarising yourself with your new culture. A family boarding situation, homestay accommodation takes you in to the home of a New Zealand family. All families have undergone house inspections, interviews and have been policed cleared.
