The College of Saint Rose

Overview

The College of Saint Rose was founded in 1920 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet as a Roman Catholic college for women

In 1970, the Board of Trustees was expanded to include laypersons in addition to the Sisters of Saint Joseph. With the formal transfer of control to this board, The College of Saint Rose became an independent college sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet.

 

Located in the heart of Albany, New York State's Capital City, Saint Rose is a private, independent, coeducational college. Through a strong liberal education curriculum and progressive academic programs, the College serves traditional students and working professionals. We offer undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs.

 

The College of Saint Rose is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation The School of Business at The College of Saint Rose, inclusive of its degree programs at the bachelor’s and master’s level, is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs; the Communication Sciences and Disorders program at the master’s level is accredited by The Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology ; the Department of Art and Design at The College of Saint Rose is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design; the Department of Music at The College of Saint Rose is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music; programs offered by The College of Saint Rose for the preparation of all school professionals, leading to initial and advanced certifications, are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the master’s level School Psychology Program at The College of Saint Rose is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists, a specialized professional association of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), ; and the bachelor’s program in Social Work is accredited by the Council for Social Work Education, a specialized accrediting agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. These specialized accrediting agencies are recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Association.

Location & Facilities

Students have the opportunity to join one of the many student clubs that have an academic, social, or community service focus. Campus life at Saint Rose has everything from music, dance, or drama performances by our students, to opportunities to participate in intramurals, outdoor adventures, and martial arts. The Massry Center for the Arts offers performances by famous artists in the worlds of music and art. There is a wide array of community service experiences from working with local school children to building homes for Habitat for Humanity.

The services offered through the various offices of Student Affairs are there to assist in keeping you focused and engaged in your academic endeavors as you work toward completing your studies.

The Residence Life program seeks to foster an environment that complements the academic mission of the College.
