Highly placed in UK, European and global rankings, we are a leading research university, attracting teachers and researchers at the very forefront of their fields.

The Times Higher Education Supplement places Sussex 99th in its world rankings, with high rankings for our international staff and research. National league tables have put many of our subjects in the UK's top 10 or 20 - including business and management, engineering, media, computer sciences, politics and international relations.

Ground-breaking research

In the UK's most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), 18 of our departments were ranked in the UK's top 20, with over 90 per cent of research activity rated as 'world-leading', 'internationally excellent' or 'internationally recognised'. The quality of our research is reflected in the funding we receive from industry, research agencies and government, which represents around 20 per cent of our income.

Inspirational alumni
Our global alumni network is a tribute to the passion, creativity and determination of Sussex graduates. We've counted leaders in academia, business, media, politics and public service among our former students, with prominent graduates.
