Northumbria University is the largest University in the North East of England with 35,000 students. It is a firmly established and respected public university and can trace its roots back to1880. Northumbria's campus has won many awards and has exceptional student facilities. It is very popular with Indian students and Northumbria has a regional office in Delhi to help students and to prepare them before they depart. Northumbria offers a full range of very high quality undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes. Business (including MBA), Engineering, Computing, Biological Sciences, Design and Physiotherapy are extremely popular with Indian students and in many postgraduate programmes Northumbria offers January start options as well as the more typical September starts. Fees are very competitive and there are scholarships for the best international students.

Northumbria University offers some of the best student facilities available. Our new City Campus East which opened in 2007, has won numerous awards and our students absolutely love it. Our Business School, School of Design and School of Law are located here and enjoy state of the art facilities.

Newcastle offers low cost of living compared to other parts of the UK. The university offers its own accommodation which is safe and secure and conveniently located. All international students are able to live here in their first year provided they have applied for this accommodation before 1st August (if starting in September). There is a choice of self catering with shared kitchen facilities, single rooms with catered facilities or flats and houses for groups wanting to share. There is also plenty of affordable private sector accommodation for students.

Northumbria awards a range of Scholarships to outstanding international students. In most cases the amount of scholarship given will be in the range GBP 500-1000. If you are awarded a scholarship, your tuition fees in your first academic year of study will be reduced by the relevant amount. Further information on Scholarships is available here. General Intake

The largest intake of both home and international students is in September. Our September 2010 terms starts on 20th September, however international enrolment is several days earlier from 17th September 2010 and students should arrive in time for this.

To offer postgraduate students more flexibility Northumbria has many Masters level programmes which start in January. This January page outlines the programmes on offer, and there are January courses available for most disciplines.
