Whatever stage your career planning has reached, we are happy to help you move forward.

What makes us employable are the attributes, skills, knowledge, attitudes, experiences and qualifications we develop in all the four elements of this model. The processes involved are: reflection (to increase our levels of self awareness of what we have to offer) anddevelopment – these are Personal Development Planning processes.

To find out more about each aspect of this model and opportunities to develop your employability and view our Development Opportunities Chart.

Cardiff Metropolitan University has identified 6 Graduate Attributes and aspires to support all students to develop within their programmes.  They are:

  • Problem-solving and analytical ability
  • Interpersonal skills and networking
  • Global citizenship
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Effective communication
  • Creativity and innovation

For a description of each of the Attributes, review the Graduate Attributes - Student Guidance Leaflet.

Businesses want graduates who not only add value but who have the skills to help to transform their organisation in the face of continuous and rapid economic and technological change.  All graduates - whatever their degree discipline - need to be equipped with employability skills.

Employability covers a broad range of non-academic or softer skills and abilities which are of value in the workplace.  It includes the ability to work in a team; willingness to demonstrate initiative and original thought; self-discipline in starting and completing tasks to deadline'.

Located in an exciting, modern European capital city, Cardiff Metropolitan University is a global university. Courses Offered

Cardiff School of Art & Design

Cardiff School of Art & Design (CSAD) is home to 1200 students, united by ambition and a true passion for creative enquiry. We are makers and thinkers in the fields of fine art, design, architecture and a range of craft practices. We have workshops and studios that ensure you can operate as professionals from the moment you start your studies

Our Courses
At the Cardiff School of Art and Design (CSAD), our courses have been designed to enable you to make choices about how you want your talent to develop. You can elect a business focus in your work, concentrate on exploring the cutting edge of your subject, or challenge yourself to take your work to new heights and in completely new directions: any and all of these.

We give you the chance to learn advanced level technical skills. We see no reason why a textile student shouldn't learn how to weld, or a fine art student shouldn't learn digital stitch. You also get to choose the bigger ideas you would like to examine, in ways that will inform your creative practice.

At CSAD, we aim to be a community. You will have plenty of opportunity not just to engage with people in your year from all of our courses, but also to work alongside students in other years or on postgraduate and research programmes. Our studios are open spaces, where you can work as an individual, but come across all kinds of work being developed.
