Scholarships

Undergraduate students who are new to UVic are eligible for a number of awards made available through contributions from donors as well as from the University's operating budget. These are referred to as entrance scholarships. Each year UVic awards more than 3.5 million dollars in entrance scholarships. Scholarships are non-repayable and are awarded mainly on the basis of a student's academic excellence.

A bursary is a non-repayable monetary award based on financial need and reasonable academic standing, as determined by the Senate Committee on Awards. The University of Victoria awards over 4 million dollars in entrance, transfer, and in-course bursaries

There are two opportunities for general bursary applications each year

Session Summer (May - Aug) Winter (Sept - Apr)
Application Deadline June 1 October 15
Decision By the end of July By the end of December

Successful applicants will be notified by email.

Bursaries with a separate application process have varying deadlines. Check out the list of scholarships and bursaries for exceptional application information.

Departmentally recommended bursaries are awarded through a recommendation by the studentís department.
