Perth Institute of Business and Technology (PIBT) is a modern and dynamic educational institution providing high quality courses, at pre-University and University levels, in an environment which encourages students to achieve excellence in their studies. PIBT provides Diploma courses in the areas of Law, Business, Hotel Management, Computer Science and IT, Mass Communication, Science, including Engineering and Nursing which lead into the 2nd Year of the respective Degree courses at Edith Cowan University (ECU). A three-semester system allows students to fast-track their study and complete most courses in 8 months.
University Designed Program
The PIBT Diploma programs are accredited as Australian University level Diplomas. The courses follow the university curricula and assessment requirements at ECU, so students are working at the same high standards.
Many PIBT lecturers are also university lecturers so they have considerable teaching experience at this level.

Location & Facilities
Edith Cowan University, with three campuses, is the second largest University in Western Australia. PIBT is located on the Mt Lawley Campus of Edith Cowan University (ECU); only 5km from Perth city. Students have access to the full range of services and facilities available on the campus, including library, cafes, computing laboratories and sporting and recreational facilities
The leafy gardens and modern buildings of the Mt Lawley campus, one of the busiest ECU campuses, add to its appeal as a learning environment. The campus is close to Perth city centre (5 kms) and is easily accessible by public transport.
PIBT students have access to the many facilities available on the university campus, in addition to those offered by PIBT. The facilities available to students include;

Cost of Living
The cost of living in Perth is affordable. Depending on your individual lifestyle the Australian Government advises a single international student requires approximately A$315 - A$400 per week.
These expenses would normally include accommodation, food, clothing, entertainment, transport and text books. They do not include airfare or additional costs for those with a more expensive lifestyle.
Students should also have a minimum of AUD$1,800 when they arrive to cover the initial cost of books and establishment expenses such as (accommodation) rental bond payment, and basic furniture items.

Articulation and University Recognition
International students who successfully finish their Diploma program are guaranteed entry to the 2nd Year of the relevant Bachelor degree.
Entry for Australian and Permanent Resident students is determined by the availability of Government Supported places on a competitive basis.

Our mission is to provide Pre-University, Undergraduate and Post Graduate level programs for direct entrance into Edith Cowan University (ECU) and a wide range of English courses. Our programs are designed in consultation with ECU and include Business, Law, Communication, Computing and IT, Engineering, Hotel Management, Health and Science.
Edith Cowan University is a responsive and forward-thinking institution and an Australian leader in the provision of professionally focused degree programs.
The Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies is a nationally recognised pre-university level course equivalent to Australian Year 12 or Foundation Program. It is designed to prepare students for university level study and requires 2 semesters of full-time study.
Students will complete 4 modules in each semester over 8 months. Progression to the Diploma program requires passes in all 8 modules. Students who go on to successfully complete their chosen Diploma program will be guaranteed entry into the 2nd year of the related ECU Degree program.
Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies
Study a university-designed Diploma course in Perth. PIBT offers Diploma courses based on the first year of the equivalent Degree program at Edith Cowan University. The courses are also delivered and moderated by Edith Cowan University lecturers.
Students at PIBT have the advantage of smaller class sizes and intensive teaching sessions. This allows you to actively engage with academic staff and fellow students to receive the support you need towards achieving success in your studies. Upon successful completion of the PIBT Diploma program, you are guaranteed entry into the second year of the relevant ECU Degree program. A full year's credit is also available for entrance to universities around Australia.
The Postgraduate Qualifying Program (PQP) is designed to lead students into Masters Degrees and Graduate Diplomas at Edith Cowan University.
The program is for students who already have tertiary qualifications but are not qualified for direct entry into university post-graduate courses. PQP has been specially designed to equip students with the academic knowledge and study skills required for success at the Masters Degree level.
Postgraduate Qualifying Program (PQP)
The Professional Year Program is designed to assist international student graduates gain employment in their chosen career; as well as give eligibility for 10 migration points towards permanent residence. It is a 44 week Department of Immigration and Citizenship approved program, including a 12 week internship. This initiative was developed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship together with Australian professional bodies to address Australia’s skill shortages in nominated occupations.
Professional Year Program
PIBT offers English Language Courses for people from non-English speaking countries in Australia. A variety of English courses are available to suit all levels from beginner to advanced.
Students have access to a wide variety of student services, support and activities with the added advantage of interaction with Australian and International students studying degree courses.
