Living
in halls of residence is the option many people choose
if they are coming from outside the region.
It’s a great way to find your feet quickly and make
the friends that you’ll keep through your entire
university career and beyond. It also means you will
be close to the University’s facilities.
The University offers over 2,000 places in Halls of
residence across the four campuses most have wireless
internet access, all have inclusive insurance . All
rooms are furnished, over 900 have en-suite bathrooms
(split between the City and Telford Campuses) and many
are built with the needs of disabled people in mind.

About the Halls of residence
It offers inclusive insurance cover as part of the
package, details of which can be found in the Fees and
payment section. The University provides wireless
internet access at its Wolverhampton (City), Compton
Park and Telford campuses.
Although priority is given to first year and
international students, demand can be high and rooms
are allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis,
so if you are considering this option, it’s worth
getting your application in early.
You will be allocated a room in the hall closest to
the campus where you’ll be studying. To find out which

Although many of the rooms are built with everyone's
needs in mind,
students with disabilities should contact us as
soon as possible so that it can do all it can to make
sure they have everything they need.

renting privately, and put you in touch with landlords
that have been checked out via the University
Accreditation scheme.
Renting privately
If you don’t manage to
get into halls or perhaps you just prefer to find
somewhere for yourself, then you can make arrangements to
rent privately – you’ll find a wide choice of
accommodation available and it won’t cost you an arm and a
leg.
Rent is typically from £35-40 per week, but when comparing
this to what you pay in Halls, remember that you need to
add the full range of household bills to these basic
prices.
These properties will have
been inspected by the University, local Council or
Students' Union and will have up to date gas and
electrical safety certificates.
And remember, if you do rent a house that is not
registered, you MUST ensure you have seen the properties
CURRENT gas certificate - carbon monoxide is tasteless,
odourless, and can kill ... be safe, always check.
Also, make sure you have read any contracts thoroughly and
you understand them before you sign, especially if
entering into a contract from abroad. |
