ABOUT WHITIREIA POLYTECHNIC :
Whitireia Community Polytechnic is a wholly owned entity of
the Crown. The Government influences the roles of Whitireia as
well as being a significant source of revenue.
Established in 1986, Whitireia is known for producing
work-ready graduates in New Zealand and overseas.
The main campus is in Porirua, sitting at the edge of the
scenic Porirua harbour, 20km north of Wellington City. It is
close to beaches where swimming, surfing and boating are
popular recreational activities. It has easy access to banks,
shopping complexes, art gallery, gymnasiums, restaurants and
public transport.
The two satellite campuses in the Wellington region are
Kapiti and Wellington City. The Kapiti Campus is situated in a
farm-like environment, surrounded by rolling hills. It is in
the heart of the fastest growing part of the Wellington
region. The Wellington City Campus is a short distance from
Parliament, and it caters for professionals looking at
re-training for career advancement.
Whitireia is a great place for international students.
Whitireia has established an international campus in Auckland,
located conveniently in Central Auckland. It offers top
quality English programmes at both the Porirua and Auckland
campus. At both campuses dedicated staff support international
students and ensure that students' experiences here are both
enjoyable and rewarding.
There are over 130 full-time programmes of study available.
Many programmes can be taken part-time and Whitireia also
offers short courses of community interest.
The programmes meet a wide range of educational and
training needs with an emphasis on producing work-ready
graduates. Qualifications range from Introductory through
Certificate level, Diploma, Undergraduate degree programmes
and several Postgraduate nursing programmes.
