Waiariki Institute of Technology was established in 1978 and currently has around 8,000 full time and part time students, of which 300 are international students from various nationalities.

Close to all amenities, Waiariki is within 5 minutes drive to the Rotorua city centre.  A regular public bus service runs from the campus to the City.

Rotorua is a popular tourist destiantion attracting 1.8 million visitors annually.  Rotorua has been voted "New Zealand's most beautiful city" 3 times.  

Based in the province of the Bay of Plenty, Rotorua is classed as a provincial city and has an environment that offers a mix of urban and rural lifestyle. 

The tourist nature of the city makes finding familiar foods to international students simple. Rotorua has so much to offer it is home of New Zealand's geothermal activity such as the shooting geysers and bubbling hot mud pools.  It is also steeped in volcanic history from the Mt Tarawera eruption.  Added to this is it's may Lakes around 16 within it's district.
