On 1st August 2007, the University of Paisley and Bell College merged to create
Scotland’s biggest modern university with campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton
and Paisley.
With over 18,000 students and almost 2,000 staff, the University is unique in
its geographical coverage across the West of Scotland.
-
Wide range of academic, social and sporting facilities
-
Friendly campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton and Paisley
-
Extensive range of programmes from degree and certificate level to MSc
-
Courses in business, computing, engineering and science, media, language and
music, health, nursing and midwifery, social sciences and education.
CAMPUSES :
You’ll want more from a University than just a great range of career-focused
courses – after all, being a student involves more than studying.
Their campuses offer relaxed and welcoming settings and provide a wide range of
academic and social facilities to ensure their students get a well-rounded
University experience. Merger brings greater sustainability and resources and
will help us to enhance the learning environment for their students.
FACILITIES :
The University is committed to providing students with the best possible
facilities to support them in their studies. Each of their campuses boasts a
well-stocked library plus computer laboratories with free e-mail and web access.
Across the full range of subjects, specialised facilities and equipment enable
students to develop their skills and gain practical experience to supplement
their theoretical knowledge.
The necessities of life are looked after by their accommodation and catering
services, while the Students' Association and Robertson Trust Sports Centre
offer plenty of entertainment and leisure opportunities.
ACCOMMODATION :
They offer a range of affordable and comfortable accommodation at their Ayr,
Hamilton and Paisley campuses. There’s a cosmopolitan mix in accommodation – and
with students from the UK, Europe and from further afield, such as China and
Pakistan, you’ll get the chance to meet people from all walks of life.
All of their
accommodation is self-catered and cooking facilities are provided. You can apply
for accommodation when you have received an unconditional offer of a place to
study. Priority is normally given to first year students who live more than 40
miles from the campus towns, or more than an hours’ travelling time away.
If you’d prefer
non-University accommodation, they can also provide listings and advice on
private accommodation in Paisley, Ayr, Hamilton and Dumfries.
STUDENT SERVICES
:
Background and experiences differ – that’s why we’re here to support you every
step of the way.
They want you to get
the very best out of the years you spend with us, which is why they have a
comprehensive range of services designed to support students of all backgrounds,
