ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM :
Studying at Nottingham is an experience that goes far beyond traditional
lectures. A flexible approach to teaching combines established teaching methods,
such as tutorials, with interactive and web-based methods. Facilities from
lecture theatres to laboratories are continually modernised and upgraded to
provide the very best in up-to-date teaching facilities.
The University's modular course system provides a flexible range of
self-contained study units which allows students to study the combination of
subjects that suits them best. Each student is allocated their own personal
tutor to help with personal and academic issues. A taste of the 'real world' is
provided on many degree courses through presentations and lectures from visiting
speakers from industry.
International Students will find additional support for the issues they face
through the International Office. For those studying in the UK for the first
time, there is an intensive four-week course held every September which helps
students make the most of their stay in the UK. The Welcome Programme runs just
before the academic year begins and provides a programme of activities to help
international students settle in to university life. The Students' Union
provides additional support through their International Student
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT :
The University of Nottingham is a popular choice for international students,
with over 6,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students from over 130 different
countries. The University is committed to providing the best possible support to
all international students from their first enquiry, to their arrival at
Nottingham, and through their entire time here.
The International Office is the first point of contact for international
students. A dedicated team of staff can advise on a whole range of issues from
eligibility for courses, to the application process, to the practicalities of
getting to and living in the UK. A key point in the international students'
calendar is the Welcome Week, organised by the International Office, to help
students settle in and find their way around the University's many resources.
In addition to the services provided by the International Office, international
students can also access other student support such as the Centre for English
Language Education which runs courses to help students improve their English
skills and Academic Support which helps students develop their academic and
writing skills. The International Office will also provide information about how
international students can access services such as healthcare, childcare and
banking.
International students will also find a warm welcome from the student body. The
International Students' Bureau provides many social activities and organises the
annual International Evening, a night of music, drama and dance which brings the
whole of the university community together. The Students' Union has over 150
different clubs and societies, many of which are focused on particular national
or cultural groups, which all add to the range of opportunities to make new
friends.
ACCOMMODATION :
Free advice on finding accommodation on and off campus is provided through
Nottingham Hospitality. University accommodation provides over 6,000 rooms,
owned by the University or provided by external developers, all close to the
campuses and ranging from modern self-catering flats to traditional halls of
residence.
In 2001, the University set a target of providing an additional 4,000 bed-spaces
by September 2006, a programme which is well underway.
The self-catering student villages combine an independent lifestyle with a
close-knit student community. There are over 2,000 self-catering places
available in purpose-built flats, each housing four to seven students, across
three sites. Each flat has its own study bedroom; kitchen and bathroom
facilities are shared. Self-catering sites are owned by external developers who
work in close partnership with Accommodation Services to ensure that the flats
meet their high standards.
Catered halls of residence provide a more 'home from home' service. 15 halls,
accommodating around 4,000 students across the University Park, Jubilee and
Sutton Bonington campuses, are owned and managed by the University. Three meals
a day are provided as part of the accommodation fee with a varied menu that
caters for a range of dietary requirements.
University accommodation features rooms on each campus that are accessible to
students with disabilities, including larger rooms for extra storage or work
space, adapted bathrooms and facilities for those with hearing impairments.
Accommodation Services can help find accommodation for students who have
specific requirements such as those with a partner or family. University housing
is limited but links with local estate agents mean that a range of family
accommodation is available through the private sector.

UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM - MALAYSIA CAMPUS :
The
University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus welcomed its first students in
September 2000. This development is a fundamental part of Nottingham's vision to
become a truly global university for the 21st century and beyond. It is the
first ever branch campus of a UK University abroad, earning the University the
distinction of the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the field of international
achievement, the first award of its kind to an academic institution.
The Malaysia Campus is a full and integral part of The University of Nottingham,
UK and offers students the Nottingham experience in a Asean setting. It is a
global institution serving an international community of students and yet is
firmly rooted in all that is distinctive about UK education - innovative
teaching and assessment methods, which encourage independent, creative thinking.
Quality standards are also among the best in the world.
At the Malaysia Campus, foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
have been successfully implemented since its inception in 2000, and continue to
be developed to reflect the research and scholarship of The University of
Nottingham. Currently, the Malaysia Campus offers programmes in Applied

students may like to consider studying part of their degree in the UK either on
our mobility scheme or direct transfer to UK. Details of these can be obtained
from the relevant Admissions Tutor.
Faculty of Health and Biological Sciences
The Faculty of Health and Biological Sciences is the newest faculty at the
Malaysia Campus and was established in early 2005.
Faculty of Social Sciences and Education
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Education consists of Nottingham University

Applied Psychology and the School of Education. In addition, the Faculty manages
the Foundation programme that feeds into the appropriate courses.
