Facilities

Learning resources

Every campus has a Learning Resource Centre with libraries, computing equipment, language centres and audio-visual facilities. They provide all the materials you need - and the specialist staff will help you to use them effectively.

Libraries

The University's library collections contain over half a million books and journals, including:

  • Some 3,000 current journal titles

  • 16,000 video recordings

  • Several hundred CD-ROMs

  • Online information includes databases, electronic journals and all that the Internet has to offer.

It is a member of UK Libraries Plus and part of the M25 Consortium of Higher Education Libraries, which greatly extends the range of resources available to students.

The special collections include a comprehensive interior design library, one of the country's larger art and design slide libraries (over 300,000 items), and a collection of building material samples.

The latest significant addition is the Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture (MoDA), which houses the superb Silver Studio Collection of late 19th and early 20th century decorative art and design.

Computing facilities

Computing facilities comprise networked PCs and Apple Macs linked to a wide range of software, communications and print services. There is open access to the Internet at every campus and Middlesex is part of an extensive ‘broad band' information network connecting many of London's universities.

Language centres

Most campuses have an open-access language centre, equipped with:

  • Audio-visual teaching materials in more than 30 languages

  • Overseas newspapers and magazines

  • Satellite TV links

  • CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) facilities

Whatever you are studying, you can use any of the centres across the University – for private study or by enrolling for an optional class.

Extensive English language tuition and support is available to students from overseas

Audio-visual facilities

The audio-visual facilities include: video-conferencing, television and photographic studios, darkrooms, video-editing suites and various equipment for loan, such as cameras and camcorders.
