The college normally
offers a place in University-owned accommodation to every
postgraduate who requests it.
If you are single
(unaccompanied by your family) and come from outside the
European Union it can guarantee you a place in
University-owned accommodation for every year of your study
(this offer excludes accommodation at Camborne School of
Mines). You may reserve your accommodation in advance for the
full period of your study and it will hold the rent at the
first year’s rate. You must have accepted an offer to study
here on a full-time programme and have applied for
accommodation, enclosing a non-returnable deposit of £95, by 1
September.
The Graduate
School will send you details of our accommodation with your academic offer.
When you firmly accept an offer of an academic place at
Exeter you should send a
completed application form (for accommodation) to the
Self-Catering Accommodation Office. Please send the
application form as soon as possible. If you would like a
brochure before you accept our academic offer please contact
the Self-Catering Accommodation Office.
-
It
has over 2,000 places in self-catering accommodation, as
well as around 2,000 places in fully-catered halls of
residence. Our halls are normally reserved for first-year
undergraduates.
-
All our
accommodation is on campus or within easy walking distance.
-
Most study
bedrooms in the flats have a telephone and an IT datalink
(for details see University Flats).
-
It
has a number of en-suite rooms at ground level which are
suitable for students with a range of disabilities. Please
discuss your personal needs with the Self-Catering
Accommodation Manager who will be able to supply you with
further information and be happy to arrange for you to
visit.
Accomodation
There are around 4,200 places for both postgraduates and
undergraduates in halls of residence and self catering flats.
All the
accommodation is either on campus or close by, within easy
walking distance of teaching buildings, so you will not waste
money or time in travelling. Most study
bedrooms in the Halls and flats have a telephone and IT links.
It recommends that undergraduates live in Halls for the first
year as it is a great way to make friends who are not on your
course. In Halls of Residence, you will be provided with 3 meals
a day, 7 days a week…. a bonus for those of you who have never
lived away from home before!! It offers self catering
accommodation to post graduates as you are then free to cook
your own food and devise your schedule accordingly.
University
flats
It
can offer you a choice of three types of room. Standard is a
single room (usually with a washbasin) with up to 12 students
sharing the bathroom/shower, kitchen and lounge facilities.
Enhanced rooms have a washbasin and benefit from improved
communal facilities. En-suite rooms have a shower, washbasin
and toilet in the room and up to eight students share the
other facilities.
The study bedrooms in the
flats listed below have a telephone and an IT datalink which
gives you access to the internet and e-mail from your own
room. There is a modest annual support charge for this
connection but there is no usage charge.
Postgraduate accommodation,
except for the self-contained flats at Clydesdale Court, is
normally let for 39 weeks, covering term time and the
Christmas and Easter vacations. However, some accommodation is
available for a 50-week period at a reduced cost per week (see
chart). Rooms in James Owen Court and Lafrowda may be booked
in advance for the full three years and, in this case, it will
hold the rent at the first-year’s rate. Please contact the
Self-Catering Accommodation Office if you would like further
information about either of these options.
Clydesdale Rise, Clydesdale
Court and King Edward Court are normally reserved for
postgraduate students. The other accommodation is let to both
undergraduates and postgraduates.
The fees quoted are for the
session 2002/2003 and are based on students occupying the
rooms for the full period of the accommodation agreement.
