Entry to Courses:
Conditions of Entry / Additional Information

Applicants to enter the Course in Architecture should have
acquired the following qualifications:-
SCE Highers BBBC plus Standard Grade Mathematics or Physics
GCE A-Levels CCC plus GCSE Mathematics or Physics
There are alternative qualifications for entry into the Course
as follows:-
EDEXCEL: (formerly BTEC). National Diploma in Architectural
Design or Construction and Technology or Building with at least
6 merits in final year.
AGNVQ: with Distinction in Construction and Building Industry.
SQA: (formerly SCOTVEC). HNC in Building with at least 8 merits.
GSVQ: (111) a relevant subject with merit.
ILC: BBCC at Higher and Mathematics or Physics at Ordinary Level
plus a portfolio.
IB: 30 points including Mathematics or Physics at subsidiary
level.
Direct Entry to Courses: graduates from other Universities or
COlleges who have been awarded a first degree in Architecture
(equivalent to the BSc degree at Dundee School of Architecture)
may apply for entry to the BArch Course (Part 1) at Dundee.
Direct entry to Part 2 or Part 3 of the BSc Course may be
possible for candidates who have satisfactorily completed or
done two years of a degree course in Architecture at another
University or College.
Mature students who, for one reason or another, have not
acquired all of the qualifications required in any of the above
categories but who can demonstrate that they have acquired high
quality trade or craft skills in industry may also apply for
entry into the Course.
Most candidates for entering into the Course in Architecture are
interviewed by School of Architecture staff, and candidates are
normally expected to bring a portfolio of work. All applications
to first degree courses have to be made through the Universities
and Colleges Admissions Services (UCAS).
School or College students who have an interest in architecture
and are considering an application for entry are encouraged to
visit the School of Architecture where they will be made
welcome, shown the day to day activities of the School and
talked to by a member of staff.
