studies and you can be sure of a range of resources and specialist
staff to help you find the information that you need.
The University holds around 500,000 volumes, over 2,000 periodical
titles and over 1,000 electronic journals. The library computer is
accessible from any PC or workstation connected by network or modem
365 days a year, 24 hours a day. This accessibility means that you

information databases on a range of subjects. Specialist librarians
are on hand to give you specific advice and guidance on your
particular subject.
It also holds
periodicals, newspapers, reports, government publications, documents
from the European Union, CD ROMs, and on line sources, so you can
keep updated on any relevant information. Of particular help to
undergraduates is a short-loan collection, containing the key books
for each course.
The Library is
housed in three modern buildings, all of which provide a pleasant
working environment. The J B Priestley Library is at the heart of
the main campus, and has recently been extended. It provides
computer-based services and terminals for undergraduates, teaching
rooms and rooms for group study. The Yvette Jacobson Library at the
Management Centre and the Health Studies Library contain specialised
collections relevant to the academic activities in these areas. |
The Computer Centre
Computing facilities are available in
most buildings and Bradford is amongst the leading universities in
the country in workstations per head of student population. It also
help students who want to buy their own PCs. To this end the
university secured special prices with some manufacturers and also
supply free or very cheap software.
You can access the campus network from almost every bedroom in the
halls of residence with the use of a standard modem, allowing you to
check the stock in the Library, reserve or renew books, send e-mails
to other higher education institutions as well as offering you
internet access. Access to the network is also available through
most staff rooms, lecture rooms and laboratories
The Bookshop
Students can benefit from a
Waterstone's bookshop on campus, stocking essential and recommended
texts as specified by your course lecturers.
As you would expect, you can also buy a range of paperbacks, general
interest books, stationery, gifts and cards. Any books you require
can quickly be ordered and as well as the shop on the main campus,
there is a separate branch at the University's School of Management,
specialising in management works.
