Students planning to go on to further study in an
English-speaking environment choose EAP. This course is designed
to help develop the language and study skills necessary for
success at university, college or TAFE in an English-speaking
country. Students are accepted on to the program once they have
reached an Upper Intermediate level.

examinations. Two levels are offered.
First Certificate in English (FCE)

Students with a strong intermediate level may undertake this
preparation program.
The examination consists of 5 papers: Reading Comprehension,
Composition, Use of English, Listening Comprehension and
Interview.
Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

For post-First Certificate students. The emphasis is on
real-world tasks.
The examination consists of 5 papers: Reading, Writing, English
in Use, Listening and Speaking.

Billy Blue offers a protective environment where students can
become accustomed to a new culture and build confidence before
moving on to a completely Australian study environment. The
course focuses on developing the language and cultural survival
skills necessary for academic and social success at high school.
Students join a General English class at their level to

Once they have achieved an Upper Intermediate level, they join
the EAP class for

Every Monday and Tuesday from 2.30 to 4.30, students are
monitored while studying:

The program has dual aims: to raise the students' English
language level to 6.0 overall and to train them in the academic
skills needed to operate successfully in a vocational school
with the focus on the language of design.
The syllabus covers the language of art criticism, the
description and names of the tools and equipment used, the
language used for page layout and for advertising campaigns
(including a storyboard for a television commercial) as well as
the wide range of language describing the creative process. The
skills of listening and note-taking and listening for details are
refined and students learn appropriate language for stating
opinions by taking part in organised debates. Copywriting (and
negotiating) skills are improved through the production of a
student newspaper.
