Undergraduate Courses
For entry to full
time undergraduate programmes application must be made through
the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). The
easiest way to apply through UCAS is by using their online
system - ucasapply - which allows you to
apply directly
Part time &
Postgraduate Courses
Your application for part-time and
postgraduate courses should be made directly to the University
using the application form.
Overseas
Applications
Applicants applying
from overseas (outside of the EU) may apply direct using an
overseas application form.
You should complete the form fully, following the instructions
included in the form, and enclose certified copies of your
educational certificates and references. The University
requires an administration fee of GB £25 to be sent with the
form to enable us to process your application. The form should
be sent direct to the Student Recruitment Office.
When to Apply
The UCAS "deadline"
for submission of applications is 15 January of the year of
University entry. However, the University will accept
applications at any time prior to commencement of the course,
subject to availability of places.
Applying for
deferred entry
The University is
happy to accept applications for admission to a later session
than that for which applications would normally be made. For
example, if you apply by January 2006, your application would
normally be for entry in September 2006, but might be
deferred, if you wish, for entry in September 2007. If you
wish to apply for deferred entry, please make this clear on
the application form.
Late Applications
Although students
are recommended to apply as early as possible (before 15
January for UCAS) it is still possible, subject to
availability, to apply up until the start of the course
(September). Any student applying for the first time during
July-September of the year of entry should contact the Student
Recruitment Office for advice on course availability and the
correct application procedure.
Offer of a Place
The University deals
with all applications as soon as possible. Advice of the
outcome of each application will come from either UCAS (in the
case of applications through the UCAS system) or direct from
the University and the response will normally be one of the
following:
-
An unconditional
offer
-
A conditional
offer
-
Unsuccessful
If you have been
made a conditional offer and don't get the grades required we
would recommend you contact us immediately as you may still be
considered for your choice of course or an alternative.
Under certain circumstances the University may offer the
opportunity to join a waiting list.
*You should note that some programmes may
have a slightly different system. For example, our BA (Hons)
Computer Arts course requires applicants to attend an
interview and provide a portfolio before giving an offer.
Applicants with
Additional Support Needs
Please indicate your disability on the
reverse of the UCAS form and contact Mr John Petrie the
Student Adviser.
