city, combined with their spectacular natural setting, help to make
Kamloops an ideal destination for international students.
CAMPUS :
TRU's main campus is in Kamloops. Located on a 230-acre site close
to the city centre, the campus has a wide range of academic,
athletic, service and recreational facilities.
Kamloops Campus :
TRU is located right in the heart of Kamloops, a city of over
80,000, at the centre of the southern Interior of BC. Shopping,
housing, entertainment and even the province's largest municipal
park are just a couple of blocks away. Whether you live on campus or
ride a city bus with your U-Pass, everything you want and need as a
student is right here. What could be more practical?
Superb summers, four dramatic seasons, sports and
outdoor recreation, and a diversity of cultural activity that few
small cities can match are among the attractions of Kamloops.
Williams Lake Campus:
Here, their friendly and professional staff strives to provide all
students with a quality educational environment in order to achieve
their fullest potential. Their dedicated faculty work equally as
hard to provide you with learning opportunities that are relevant,
challenging, and personally engaging for all students. Both add up
to make TRU Williams Lake the place to be.
This year will be an exciting one for TRU Williams
Lake as we have relocated to their new campus on Western Avenue.
Here, students enjoy access to their classes, science and nursing
laboratories, trades and technology shops, computer laboratories,
the campus library, Registrar's and counseling offices, services for
Aboriginal students, faculty offices, and student council facilities
-- all under one roof in a new, state-of-the-art, wireless campus
Regional Centres:
TRU's region includes the Nicola Valley, Clearwater and the North
Thompson, Lillooet and the upper Fraser Canyon, 100 Mile House, and
the historic region known as the Cariboo. At the Williams Lake
campus, in the heart of the Cariboo, students can begin study in
degree programs, or choose various Career and Trades program
options.
Campus Activity Centre :
The Campus Activity Centre (CAC) is TRU's student centre. This is a
place where students can come to relax between classes or at the end
of the day. It is also home to TRU's International Centre where
international students can find counselling and support services.
TRU
History :
What began in 1970 as a community college to deliver
career-technical and two-year academic university transfer programs
during the provinces' initial expansion of post-secondary education,
Thompson Rivers University is now British Columbia's newest
university.
TRU's New International Building :
The new International Building opened in April 2005. The
International Building is a 50,000-square-foot facility providing
extensive computer and language lab, lecture theatre, classroom,
student lounge space, and wireless Internet access in the heart of
the TRU campus.
