About Toronto
Toronto is a magnificent city set beautifully on the north shore of Lake
Ontario. The city was created in 1834 when the settlement of York was renamed
Toronto, the Mohawk word for "Meeting Place". Toronto is the capital of the
province Ontario and is the largest city in Canada. The Greater Toronto Area has
almost 5 million people.
Toronto is very rich in culture boasting one of the most multicultural cities
in the world. The city is full of diversity which can be found in neighborhoods,
restaurants, shop, and cultural events. Torontonians are very proud of the
diversity of their city and welcome all visitors.

Ontario is one of the largest film and television production centers in North
America. It is often referred to as "Hollywood North" by the film industry.
Production companies come to Ontario, and especially Toronto, to fine top
caliber performers and crew, great locations, and world class studios and labs.
Just in Toronto itself are locations used to transport the film viewer to New
York City, China, Spain. Old Europe or a sunny beach, to name a few. Toronto is also home to many film festivals including the renowned Toronto
International Film Festival held throughout the city in early September each
year. TIFF is considered the premiere film festival in North America. It ranks
second only to Cannes in terms of high-profile pictures, stars and market
activity. |
