Sussex is a great place to be when
it comes to accommodation - with University places for over 3,000
students - and dedicated help with finding space off- campus.
As an undergraduate, it provides you with an accommodation guarantee
for your first year. There is also a guarantee for new full-time
research postgraduates and non-EU Masters degree students. Check out the
details in the housing office.
Accommodation ranges from halls of residence to flats and houses.
Most students live in single rooms with toilet, shower and kitchen
facilities shared with four or five others. All residences are
self-catering. Rooms have single beds, wardrobes, desk and chair,
telephone and most have washbasins. There are some en-suite rooms
available. Typical prices range from £51 to £58 a week.
A key Sussex feature is the Residential Advisers: second or third
year students who also live in student accommodation to help you settle
in and get to know the University. There is also a 24-hour housing
reception and security office and it has the own emergency team on
campus.
There is also student accommodation in Brighton for those who prefer
to live off-campus. After their first year, most students live in
Brighton. To help you find places, the Housing Office, produces a list
of available accommodation and runs housing workshops.
Dedicated postgraduate accommodation is available for you either on
campus in Brighthelm or off-campus in Kings Road overlooking Brighton
Beach. Kulukundis House is designed to meet your requirements if you
have physical disabilities and may need assistance with your day-to-day
care. There also are about 70 family flats in University owned
properties for students with children. |
