Accountancy, Business & Management, Computing, Fashion & Design, Healthcare
Management, Hospitality Management, and Law. Most of
theirr courses lead to
recognised academic or professional qualifications.
St. Patrick's is committed to an EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY.
Why St Patrick's?
There are several compelling reasons why
students should consider St. Patrick's very seriously.
The high quality and excellence of
education
St Patrick's provides high quality education in
a caring and friendly environment. It has all the facilities you need for an
effective and enjoyable learning experience, which contributes to the success of
their students.
Accreditations & affiliations
St. Patrick's has a impressive and
enviable host of accreditations and affiliations with various organisations, which are
testament to the high quality of education offering.
Authentic British
St. Patrick's
pride themselves on providing courses
that lead to 'Authentic British' (mapped to the National Qualifications Framework) qualifications
from Edexcel, University of Portsmouth, University of Sunderland and University
of London.
British qualifications have a strong
established foundation of many centuries and are relied upon extensively and
recognised globally. British qualifications are also most evolved to meet
today's and tomorrow's needs of global markets, not yesterday's requirements.
Further, British qualifications are also most sought by organisations today.
Highly Experienced and
Qualified Staff
The quality and excellence is underpinned by
their staff, who are highly experienced and qualified upto PhD and MBA levels. The
staff comprise academics and industry-professionals, which provides their students
a unique mix of best-learning practices along with 'hands-on' implementation
experience of people who've been there and done it. As a result of this,
students undergo a learning process, which from the outset prepares them for
employment.
Meeting the needs of
industry and students
An eventual goal for education and training for
many, is good employment and the prospects of a better quality of life. It is
hence important to consider the part played by higher education. To achieve good
employment, look at employer needs - it is evident that employers are looking
for a workforce which does not simply rely on academic mastery, but also
possesses the practical skills necessary in getting things done. St. Patrick's
courses address exactly this - St. Patrick's courses are 'real life based' whereby
students apply their academic learning to real life situations. For example,
students may be asked to develop business plans, create full company accounts or
even develop priced and costed food menus. No wonder that students obtain
work placements and commence successful careers with some of the world's leading
brand name firms and blue chip organisations.
On an ongoing basis, St. Patrick's reviews and
modifies its courses to ensure that they reflect tomorrow's needs, not
yesterday's.
St. Patrick's
also understand that some of their students need to undertake part time work in
the UK to supplement their incomes. St. Patrick's structures its lessons and
tutorials to facilitate enough time for its students to do their research,
complete their coursework and also undertake part time work if necessary.
The emphasis
St. Patrick's give on
helping students to continually improve their performance through
-
Helping students to undertake and transition
from coursework-only courses to coursework + exam courses; this is a typical in
their undergraduate courses where students migrate from a coursework-based HNC
1st year, through to a coursework + exam final year leading to a BSc or BA.
This helps students build their confidence and improves their capabilities and
performance.
-
Multi-part pieces of coursework - where for
given coursework, students have to complete each component part and this is
marked and assessed by St. Patrick's lecturers. The lecturers provide feedback
on every part, identifying the students' areas of strength and most
importantly identifying what they should have done to get better grades. This
enables the student to produce increasingly higher quality work and enhances
their overall performance.
Testament to this is the graduation of almost 100 students with degrees from
the University of Greenwich & Portsmouth.
St. Patrick's emphasis on providing
students industry-recognised qualifications, year on year
A well known issue relates to students' 'wasted
time', particularly where they are unable to complete their course for
legitimate reasons. Commonly, educational establishments provide credits for the
time the student has been in attendance. For the student, taking these credits
and attempting to use them for future admission at other educational
establishments is often an arduous task. 'Course incompatibility', translation
between different educational systems and 'timeouts' are common obstacles in
this task often leading to the student having to start again.
To address this, St. Patrick's has designed
it's courses, particularly undergraduate studies, such that students achieve
bona fide (mapped to the British National
Qualifications Framework) qualifications, year on year. Year 1 leads to HNC,
year 2 leads to HND and year 3 leads to the BA or BSc.
This framework caters for even those students
who do have to leave prematurely, ensuring that they take away qualifications
with them that are globally recognised and accepted. This effectively minimises
their 'wasted time' and provides longer term cost-savings.
EntryRoutes &
Qualification
The figure below shows the generic entry routes
and qualifications roadmap with St. Patrick's.

Low cost courses virtually
half price compared to some other educational establishments
St. Patrick's courses are very cost effective
compared to other educational establishments. Depending on the specific course,
their prices for undergraduate study are virtually 50% cheaper. They achieve this
without compromising the quality or excellence of the education offered.
Specifically, They achieve this by focusing their resources into the important areas
- the quality of their teaching staff, the learning facilities, the course
material, the learning environment and facilities and the student performance
improvement processes. Further, being an independent college,
St. Patrick's is
not compelled systemically to charge their students a high minimum charge.
