Shafston was established in 1996 and has grown to be the largest College of its type in Australia with over 50,000 students having attended since it's inception. The two Shafston campuses are unique! They are both located in the heart of Brisbane. The original Kangaroo Point Campus, which is centred on "Shafston House" a heritage-listed building constructed in 1851 - is located on the banks of the beautiful Brisbane River and covers an area of five-acres. The new purpose-built City Campus is five minutes away in Brisbane's central business district. These campuses allow our students to enjoy a true university campus experience and atmosphere with beautiful outdoor spaces as well as excellent teaching and learning facilities. Shafston also boasts one of the most diverse student populations in the country.

Facilities
Shafston has some of the best facilities available including the following:

Gym
The fully equipped Gym is available between 6am to 10pm daily and offers running machines, cycle machines and a variety of weights and exercise equipment completely free of charge for all residents of Shafston University Mansions.

Computer Rooms
Shafston is continually upgrading its technological infrastructure.
Students have access to three computer labs featuring quality IBM and Compaq hardware.
Printing services are available and all computing labs offer free high speed internet access.
Dedicated IT support staff are on call.

Cafe Renoir
Cafe Renoir located at Shafston's Kangaroo Point campus has a primary purpose which is to provide Shafston's students with affordable dining and a comfortable social environment.

The cafe provides seating for up to 250 students indoor and outdoor and caters for students from all nationalities. The food that is prepared and cooked by experienced chefs from numerous diverse countries ranges from 8 different hot meals a day to a choice from sandwiches, sushi, tea/coffee, fruit, hot chips and much more!

Cafe Einstein
Located at Shafston's City Campus, Café Einstein is the perfect place to relax in your own time or between lectures.

It's modernised licensed dining area; lounges and big screen television compliment the affordable prices and prompt service.

Choose from either the cold gourmet "ready to go" menu ranging from sandwiches to sushi or the always changing "made to order" menu. Either grabbing a coffee before class or a snack between, Cafe Einstein provides convenience and service to both Shafston students and also the public.

Library
Shafston College has two branch libraries which offer a range of up to date resources, that are particularly suited to the information needs of our students.

The Shafston International College library collection is located at Kangaroo Point overlooking the Brisbane River and provides international students with an ideal environment for study. Students have access to a wide range of text and audio-visual materials to support all aspects of their English language learning.

The Shafston Institute of Technology library collection is located at our city campus in Spring Hill. This collection caters for our higher education and vocational courses. A good range of current relevant material is available, including hardcopy journals and three high quality academic databases (ProQuest, Emerald and Lexis) which provide electronic access to a wealth of academic journal articles online.

Each library has student access computers which students may use to search the library catalogue or the World Wide web. Printing and photocopying facilities are available in both libraries. Library staff is always on hand and happy to assist students in locating and evaluating the information they need.

Function Centre
Shafston boasts a Function Centre with absolute river frontage.
