room in College Green. You can view the listing of
hostels and
private apartments. These lists are updated when necessary. Do note that the
agreement and arrangement is solely between the student and the housing agents.

Some Considerations When Choosing
Accommodations
There are many things to consider before making your final choice. These include
the rental you can afford, the amount of rent required up front, whether a
security deposit is required, whether the place is furnished and whether
utilities are included. Other things to consider include the proximity to campus
or bus/MRT stations, and to other conveniences such as grocery stores, food
outlets and banks.
Due to land constraints, housing in
Singapore is generally expensive especially for private housing. The price range
depends on locality, type of premises, size, furnishing provided, recreational
facilities available and the general demand for the area. Prime districts are at
Orchard Road, around Holland Road, Tanglin Road, River Valley, and Bukit Timah,
where rents cost a lot more. These areas are near to SMU campus.
Another factor to consider is the length of
the lease. Accommodation in Singapore is normally rented on an initial one or
two year lease. Landlords usually ask for up to 3 months' rent as a deposit.
Although more difficult to find, shorter leases do exist. However, you may have
to pay higher rent compared to a 1 year lease. Most of those accommodations in
the lists which It has sourced are available for short term rental.
