ABOUT UNIVERSITY
QRC is New Zealand's
first tertiary college dedicated to meeting the demands of an
international tourist resort.
They
offer a diverse range of world class courses and programmes
including diplomas in Hospitality Management and Adventure
Tourism Management, Internships, a range of English Language
courses, leadership development programmes, Executive Education
for professionals and short courses for visitors.
QRC's life began in
2001 with research, conceptual design, consultation and
development. A site on the edge of the Queenstown Gardens was
found in 2004 and building began just one year later. The
College's five star facility was officially opened in March 2006
by the Minister of Tourism, Hon, Damien O'Connor.
It is wholly New Zealand owned and operated. The Board of
Directors is chaired by former Otago University vice chancellor,
Eion Edgar, and is made up of chief executive Jan Fitz-Gerald,
Tony Hill and Mark Taylor. All four live and work in Queenstown
and have more than 50 combined years of experience in public
tertiary education.
Unlike other hotel management schools and colleges, QRC
positions itself as a pathway college offering two formal
diploma programmes in Hospitality Management and Adventure
Tourism Management. Both have Degree options available through
their partners the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS),
Australia, the César Ritz Colleges, Switzerland and Thompson
Rivers University, Canada.
The programmes are critiqued by Advisory Boards. These key
industry people were consulted during the initial research phase
and will continue to ensure their relevancy now and in the
future.

LIFESTYLE:
Queenstown is a great place to be - to study, to work and to
explore. In Queenstown you can get the best of both worlds; an
international qualification and an international resort
lifestyle.
Queenstown has a small permanent population, so it's safe and
friendly yet there are many visitors to the region, so it's
always full of new and interesting people. Living in Queenstown
is low-stress - there is minimal traffic, pollution and other
stresses associated with city life.
From the moment you
arrive, you'll understand why Queenstown is known as the
adventure capital of the world - you'll see paragliders floating
down from the gondola, people parasailing on the lake and jet
boats zooming in and out to collect passengers for thrill rides.
Queenstown is a centre for tourism and hospitality, and is the
best place to learn about adventure tourism, hospitality and
hotel management in New Zealand. |
