On Campus Accommodation
All LIBT first year students are guaranteed on campus
accommodation for the September intake and accommodation in May
and January is allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
There are a number of reasons LIBT students chose to live on
campus rather than off campus:
-
Convenience of proximity to classes (i.e. walking
distance)
-
Safe and secure environment with 24 hour security and CCTV
-
LIBT students live with Brunel University home students
and international students from all corners of the globe so
the opportunity to make friends is easy.
The Brunel University Accommodation Office is responsible for
the allocation of all undergraduate and postgraduate students to
University Residences. The majority of LIBT students live on the
Uxbridge campus although some of the students live on the
Runnymede campus. For those students living in Runnymede there
is a free shuttle bus service running between the two campuses
all day.
All of the halls of residence provide self-catering
accommodation including shared study bedrooms in traditional
halls with shared bathrooms and kitchens, single study bedrooms,
and modern flats where several bedrooms are grouped around a
shared kitchen/dining area. A number of the Halls of Residence
feature study bedrooms with en suite facilities.
Brunel University also have a small number of studio flats
and flatlets on campus that can accommodate couples. Often these
flats are allocated on a first come first served basis and
couples need to be able to prove that they are in a genuine and
continuing relationship.
Costs
The cost of accommodation varies according to the type you
have chosen. In 2003 the weekly cost varied from £58 for a
standard single room to £71 for an en-suite* room.
*Subject to change and availability in 2004
Facilities
All of the rooms are heated during the colder winter months
by a single radiator in each room. The heating cost is included
in the cost of the room.
All rooms on campus have IT network access points. The rooms
are provided with all of the necessary bed linen including the
pillow, sheets and duvet. Students can also ask for an extra
blanket if they feel cold. In addition the linen is washed each
week provided the student takes the sheets off the bed and drops
them to the laundry located in each hall of residence.
Every student has access to the shared Kitchen facilities
which includes a stove/oven and refrigerator. Students muct
provide their own cooking utensils and crockery such as a rice
cooker or microwave. Typically this cost is shared with other
students in the same Hall of Residence.
