Hawaii Pacific University

International Student Accommodation

Student Housing

Hawai'i Pacific University offers several options to assist students with their housing needs.

University-Provided Housing:

  • Residence halls on the windward Hawai'i Loa campus.

Residence Halls

The windward Hawai'i Loa campus is situated on 135 acres of lush, tropical landscape at the foot of the majestic Ko'olau
mountain range in Kaneohe.

The on-campus housing complex provides full academic year accommodations (fall, winter, and spring semesters) for students in six residence halls. Each hall is coed (men and women, in most cases, are assigned to separate floors).  Two halls are theme halls: Global (international and US students living together to learn more about each other's countries and cultures) and Smoke-free hall. Primarily, first-year (traditional freshman) students choose to live in the residence halls because of the convenient meal plan, quick access to the downtown campus from the windward Hawai'i Loa campus by using the University's Intercampus Shuttle Service, and strong community atmosphere.

The windward Hawai'i Loa campus residence life office provides services, programs, and facilities designed to enhance students' educational experience. This is accomplished under the leadership of the residential life staff who assist students in developing leadership and life skills in a challenging and supportive atmosphere.

The Hawai'i Pacific University Housing Association (HPUHA) is a student-governed body that organizes activities to enhance the student-resident experience in University housing. Throughout the academic year, HPUHA sponsors periodic excursions to some of Hawaii's spectacular cultural and recreational sites, on-campus social events, and special dinners. The windward Hawai'i Loa campus offers recreational facilities that include basketball/volleyball courts, tennis courts, fitness center and a student center. Students participate in intramural sports throughout the academic year. The free residence life shuttle program provides weekly transportation to the beach, shopping, Waikiki and other off-campus sites for residence hall students only.

For health and safety reasons smoking is not permitted inside the residence halls and residential life facilities and grounds. A designated smoking area is available in the residential life area.

Residence hall contracts are for the full academic year, and all payments, partial or full, are nonrefundable. Additional winter intercession (December) contracts are available, but without a meal plan. Housing prices for the fall or spring term normally range from $3,600 to $4,500 per semester (including the meal plan) depending on options selected. Prices can vary, so it is best to call for the most current price information. Hawai'i Pacific University policy states that the residence halls are drug-free and alcohol-free. The possession or use of alcohol, drugs, or drug paraphernalia is prohibited.

It is the University's hope that you will find University-provided housing comfortable, convenient, and conducive to a student's academic success.

Off-Campus Housing (Non-University Sponsored Housing):

Century Campus Housing Management, L.P. (CCHM) is a national leader in privatized management of student housing. They manage on and off-campus housing for 28 universities covering 11 states and more than 18,000 beds. CCHM employs over 700 housing professionals and paraprofessionals, many of whom hold degrees in Student Personnel or related areas. CCHM and its professional staff are actively involved in professional organizations such as ACUHO-I, SWACUHO, ACPA, and NASPA. Century Campus Housing Management is an Equal Opportunity Employer. CCHM is currently offering HPU students accommodations in the Kalo Terrace. The property is approximately three miles from the HPU downtown campus, normally a 15 minute ride by city bus. Priority deadline is June 15th for Hawaii Pacific University students.

Cadmus Properties Corporation, a professional real estate management company, provides students with a variety of housing options from short-term housing (15 and 30 day rentals), single semester rentals and options up to 12-month rentals. All of these options can be secured prior to arriving in Hawaii. Cadmus Properties typically provides hotel studio units, some with kitchenettes, in the Waikiki area. They match students together for placement in shared units and also have single units available.

Century Campus Housing Management (CCHM) and Cadmus Properties Corporation (Cadmus) are independent property management companies and serves as a referral service for HPU students. Housing applications and agreements are strictly between CCHM or Cadmus and the students applying for its services. CCHM and Cadmus are not affiliated with HPU and the University does not evaluate nor endorse any particular CCHM or Cadmus complex, building, or unit. Your decision to use CCHM, Cadmus or other rental property agency, is solely a personal decision.
