The Rouen School of Management is, however, much more than
a range of programmes and a catalogue of resources. Above
all, it is a dynamic academic community, driven by its
mission to edu cate
and playing an active role in international professional
networks. Aware as Rouen is that they are living in a
world which is becoming more and more complex and
uncertain, their vocation is to train managers for the
long-term.
Rouen strength is a question
of balance. Between their history, which has built their
reputation, and the modernity of a recently formed group.
Between their solid European identity and their openness
to the world. Between their campus in Rouen and centre in
Paris. Between teaching objectives concerned particularly
with personal development and a cluster of research
specialties whose goal is to advance knowledge in general
to the benefit of businesses and organisations.
Mission
Capitalizing on its
entrepreneurial origins and strong roots in the Normandy
region, its strategic geographical position in Europe, and
its close proximity to the dynamic Paris region, the
mission of the Rouen School of Management aims at
supporting people and organizations by:
-
Transforming a rigorously-selected, diverse and high-
potential student population
into responsible leaders
who are committed to continual improvement and lifelong
learning, thanks to its undergraduate, graduate and
postgraduate generalist or specialized management
programs.
-
Developing skills and competences of managers
thanks to tailor-made seminars created in partnership
with companies and qualifying degree programs.
-
Expanding management knowledge
thanks to research activities carried out by
highly-committed Faculty and focused on strategically-
defined areas of expertise.
Guided by the values of
entrepreneurialism, ethics and
excellence, the Rouen School of Management promotes
a European vision of management
which considers cultural diversity as an opportunity,
negotiation as strength and sustainable development as a
necessity.
A leading
European Management School
Since its foundation, in 1871,
the second business school to be created in France, ESC
Rouen has had a clear mission:
“To train business leaders or directors of overseas
agencies, consular agents capable of representing France
in a suitable manner in its international trade
relations."
Now, many decades later, the
school’s horizon remains the same. Through its mission –
to train high-level executives, with an entrepreneurial
cast, operational and responsible, able to drive the
development of businesses and organisations – the Rouen
School of Management’s ambition is to be counted among the
top European management schools.
A shared ambition and shared
values
The strength of the Rouen
School of Management comes not from its hard edge but from
the consistency, the density and the dynamism of its
project and of its teaching programmes. It is based on
deeply-rooted, shared values, which are part of its
genetic heritage.
e
as in
europe
At the heart of a region whose face is turned to the
sea, and which is open to the world, the school’s
ambitions have always, since its creation, been directed
outside the frontiers of France. The Rouen School of
Management seeks to transmit values derived from its
particular European situation: respect for cultural
diversity, a sense of social cohesion, sustainable
development, etc. Naturally, its vocation is to train
European managers, but also executives of all countries,
attracted by our economic, social and cultural
environment
e
as in
excellence
Because it trains high level executives, the Rouen
School of Management has a requirement for excellence in
both education and training. Excellence is not one size
fits all. It is plural. It is a moving force behind
individual and group ambitions. Excellence is never
fully acquired. It presupposes a constant questioning of
one’s achievements.
e
as in
entrepreneurship
The Rouen School of Management promotes the spirit of
enterprise in all its students and, in all its
programmes, it encourages teaching methods involving
project management but also in-business assignments,
association activities. All sorts of initiatives whose
aim is the development of a taste for risk-taking, of
leadership qualities, of teamwork or of creativity are
given high value.
e
as in
ethics
Ethics is the preconditions for the sustainable
development of business. It is a token of social and
environmental responsibility, permitting businesses to
respond to their workers’ needs for cohesion and
recognition in order to mobilise their skills. Ethics is
a component of all the programmes and is the inspiration
for the behaviour of all the players in the Rouen School
of Management.
The Rouen School of Management is conscious of its
social responsibility and leads many initiatives aiming
at promoting equal opportunity access to higher
education. It also participates to the EFMD’s “Globally
Responsible Leadership Initiative” promoted by UNO
within the Global Compact programme.
Accommodation in Rouen
The second biggest expense
for students.
Rouen has many possibilities for accommodation in the
centre of town.
The university halls of residence are on the Campus, rooms
are allocated to the Rouen School of Management and let on
request depending on resources.
90% of the students live in the centre of town (which 15
minutes from the campus, by car or bus).
You should reckon on a rent of around 200€ per month for
25m² (Rent rebate deducted).
This cost can be reduced in the second year : students
often prefer the system of flat/house sharing.
