How To Apply |
There are no formal entry requirements but students must be
over 22 on January 1st of the year of entry.
Applications from:-
Long-term unemployed persons;
People returning to education after a long period and;
Those seeking a career change;
are particularly welcome.
Potential students are required to apply directly to Waterford
Institute of Technology in the Spring of the year of entry and
complete an application form. A week-long Summer School is
organised for applicants in June of the year of entry where
potential students can:-
Sample the College environment;
Try out classes in different subject areas and;
Gather information from tutors regarding the different subject
areas and streams
In September, before the Course commences, candidates are
invited to the Institute for a week-long Induction Programme and
an informal interview in order to determine their suitability
for the programme.
Selection Process
All applicants must complete the Course Application form
Applicants will then be invited to attend an Induction Programme
for the Course designed to allow potential students to
experience the nature and content of the course
Applicants can then proceed to register on the Course
Potential applicants should bear in mind that they will be
required to show that they have seriously considered the
implications of taking on a course of study such as this in
terms of time management, work and family committments, and
extra-curricular activities. They must show that they will be
able to dedicate the required amount of time to their studies
and to the Course in general.
To facilitate candidates in deciding whether the Course is
appropriate for them or not, the Regional Guidance Service for
Adults (REGSA) offers a free, impartial and confidential service
for prospective mature students. Candidates are strongly advised
to make contact with REGSA as part of their decision-making
process.
