The Campuses
Southern Cross is located in the beautiful, natural
environment of the NSW North Coast and that's a big bonus
for the on-campus students. We're close to the region's
tourist attractions, surfing beaches and marine
environments at Tweed Heads and the Queensland Gold Coast,
Byron Bay, Coffs harbour, and Port Macquarie. The towns
and villages offer a huge range of music and arts venues,
festivals and events in which the University community is
involved.
The students enjoy a lower cost of living, compared with
metropolitan universities, and a great outdoor lifestyle
in a sub-tropical environment. They also enjoy social,
cultural, sporting and recreational activities and
services provided by the student organisations. While they
vary across campuses, these services include licensed
bars, bistros and restaurants, band nights, film evenings,
dinner dances and lunchtime entertainment, seminars and
functions. There's a travel agent, fitness centre, a range
of informative publications, an advisory and advocacy
service, supply shops, sporting, social, cultural clubs
and societies.
Coffs Harbour
The campus at Coffs Harbour shares a unique
multi-sectoral education facility with TAFE NSW and the
NSW Department of Education and Training in a coastal
tourism setting. The city has a population of 60,000 and
an international standard airport.
Lismore
The Lismore campus occupies 60 hectares in a lush and
tranquil setting between rainforest and the sea. It houses
the majority of the University's academic units,
electronic information services, a modern library, and
provides most essential facilities and services. The
campus is also located close to Lismore's central business
district and airport.
Tweed Gold Coast
The new $7 million campus at Tweed Heads, on the
NSW-Queensland border, provides a high technology learning
experience unmatched in regional Australia. The campus is
centrally located and close to beaches, business
facilities, and the Coolangatta international airport.
The campuses are open throughout the year and visitors are
always welcome.
In addition to the campuses, Learning Access Centres are
being established throughout the region. The Tourism
students in Sydney operate out of the harbour-side Hotel
School, and the Marine Science students enjoy facilities
of the new Marine Science Centre at Coffs Harbour.
