admission requirements
To satisfy admission requirements of entry to
undergraduate courses, students must:
have completed an appropriate educational qualification
deemed at least equivalent to matriculation in Australia
(examples listed below); and
have met the University's English language requirement.

In addition, some courses require higher scores than those
listed. The University reserves the right to alter them
without notice.
Other matriculation programs may be acceptable and
students are advised to contact the University's overseas
representatives or the International Office directly for
further information.
Where a student's qualification is not acceptable they may
choose to complete a Foundation Program, Diploma Program,
or Matriculation Program in Australia. Further information
about these is available from the University or its
representatives. Alternatively, one year of study at
university in your home country may meet the University's
entry requirement.
Postgraduate admission requirements
Coursework Masters
Students are required to have a degree considered by
the University to be equivalent to a Bachelors degree in
Australia.
In many courses (eg MBA), 1-2 years of relevant work
experience is also required.
Students without a degree but with substantial relevant
work experience may be admitted to a Graduate Certificate
or Diploma.
All students whose first language is not English must also
meet the University's English Language requirement
Coursework Doctorates
Students are required to have completed a degree
considered by the University to be equivalent to an
Australian Masters level degree.
In some courses, 3-5 years of relevant work experience is
also required.
All students whose first language is not English must also
meet the University's English Language requirement.
Research Degrees
Students must have completed a degree considered by the
University to be equivalent to an Australian Honours 2A
degree.
Alternatively students must have completed a degree
considered by the University to be equivalent to an
Australian Masters degree including at least 50% research.
Students must also demonstrate the capacity to undertake
research. This can be demonstrated through their studies
or work experience.
All students whose first language is not English must also
meet the University's English Language requirement.
English entry requirements
Students whose first language is not English must provide
proof of English proficiency. Please refer to the table
below for acceptable entry requirements.
Please note: for students from many countries, an IELTS
test result is a prerequisite for obtaining a student
visa. You should check whether this is the case for you
before choosing which English language test you will take.
You are advised to check this with the Australian
Government representative in your home country.
Post-Secondary Qualifications
The University welcomes applications from students with
post-secondary qualifications, such as Diplomas from
Polytechnics, Associate Diplomas from Technical and
Further Education institutions, or similar qualifications.
In these instances, students may be eligible for 'advanced
standing' at Southern Cross University. Students should
indicate on the application form if they wish to apply for
advanced standing and provide detailed information to the
University about their previous studies.
