About The City |
|
|
Christchurch
With its parks, gardens and rivers Christchurch is
justifiably known as the "garden city". For first-time
visitors here, it is the sheer green beauty of the place
that captivates and entrances them. The terrain is flat
- ideal for cycling, and the climate is temperate.
|
|
Christchurch is the second
largest city in New Zealand and is the gateway to the
scenic splendour of the South Island. Mountains, lakes,
forests, rivers and beaches are all within easy travelling
distance, providing a whole world of opportunities for
outdoor pursuits.
|
|
A tremendous variety of sports
and other pastimes are available, including swimming,
surfing, fishing, tennis, golf, rugby, yachting,
softball, martial arts, and basketball. Skiing is very
popular in the winter months from July through to
September, and there are a number of international-class
ski fields within a few hours' drive. By international
standards it is relatively cheap to participate in any
of these activities.

|
Christchurch's population
of 360,000 people come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds,
making this multi-cultural city a vibrant and exciting place to
live, work and study.
