Research and Project Management - CU
Develops student knowledge of
the nature, principles and methods of research and
applies research tools to a realistic project
management context for the hospitality and tourism
industries.
Facilities and Property Operations - CU
Practical skills and
theoretical knowledge to meet competency standards
of Front Office and Housekeeping Service Personnel.
A basic understanding of Facilities and Property
Management.
Food Service Management - HS
Organisational and managerial
skills to successfully operate a Food and Beverage
outlet. Examines industry principles and practices
through operation of simulated functional
restaurants.
Accommodation Management - HS
Supervision and administration
of a hotel's Rooms Division Department,
including critically examining the use of
accommodation and facilities as operational
resources.
Event Management - JE
Overview of the business of
event management. Theoretical insight and practice
through the planning, development, management,
operation and evaluation of an event/conference
program.
Tourism Planning and
Development - TS
Tourism knowledge and research
methods focussing on critical analysis of tourist
destinations, specifically in terms of products,
product development and planning within selective
destinations
Human Resource Management - CU
Awareness of the legal
framework and the policies and procedures which
guide the management of people in organisations
generally and in hospitality in particular.
Organisational Behaviour - CU
Develops understanding of
organisational structures. Covers leadership skills
(self-management, facilitating meetings, building
teams, and communicating objectives of the
organisation), legal responsibilities of a manager
and duty of care for health, safety and security.
Tourism Sales and Marketing - TS
Basic marketing
concepts focussed on tourism on the macro level,
particularly marketing destinations. This unit will
develop the micro operational level of the core
unit, Hospitality and Tourism Marketing, and
supplement areas studied in Tourism Planning and
Developments.
