Student Accommodation
The Institute is, at present, non-residential. However plans are
at an advanced stage to provide on-campus residential
accommodation. An accommodation list is available at all times
from the Students' Union. Each student must make his or her own
accommodation arrangements.
The Student Services Manager or the Chaplaincy Service will be
pleased to assist any student who has difficulty finding
suitable accommodation.
Student Accommodation in Athlone
Short-term AccommodationTemporary accommodation may be found by contacting any of the
following addresses, which may be used as a base to find
something more permanent (please contact the International
Office if you need assistance in booking temporary accommodation
- email: international@ait.ie). The International Office in
association with the Students Union Accommodation Officer will
assist you in finding suitable permanent accommodation for the
duration of your stay. If you are booking bed & breakfast or
hostel accommodation, please contact the landlord/landlady in
advance of your departure and advise them of your date and
approximate time of arrival in Athlone.
Long-term Accommodation
Student Accommodation
A new student village in the town centre has single rooms and
double rooms available for September 2003 (see International
Student Guide for rates). There is a bus service from
House to Athlone IT every 15 minutes. It would take 25 minutes
to walk from House to Athlone IT.
A deposit must be sent prior to your arrival to secure your
booking.
Prices for September 2003 to May 2004 are as follows:
Single room en-suite: 80 per week 1st Moiety: 1600
Single room: 72.5 per week 1st Moiety: 1450
Twin room en-suite: 65 per week 1st Moiety: 1300
Twin room: 60 per week 1st Moiety; 1200
A booking deposit of 500 will secure your accommodation and
will be used as follows:
Electricity charge prepayment: 250
TV License & Corus connection: 80 (Non refundable)
Security deposit: 170 (Refundable)

Further information:
The deposit is only refundable if you are changing to another
Third Level College.
All apartments have Storage Heaters (night saver rate),
Immersions Heaters (night saver rate), and Bedroom Panel
heaters.
The charge of 250 for electricity may not cover the entire
36-week period of occupancy.
All applications must contain: Student I.D. No. and a recent
photo (passport size).
Laundry facilities are available within the building on the
purchase of tokens.
First payment prior to occupation in September 2003 (20 weeks).
Second payment by 10 January 2004 (16 weeks).
To make a booking, an application form needs to be filled out.
After returning this, you will receive an acceptance offer and
guarantee form. The deposit must be returned with this form, not
earlier.
Croi Oige Student Village, located across the road from Athlone
IT has a limited number of places available for September 2003.
Please check with Manager for vacancies if you wish to book
accommodation at Croi Oige please contact the Manager
Athlone Institute of Technology does not accept responsibility
for accommodation arrangements between landlord and tenant.
