Student Services
In conjunction with Griffith University, QIBT offers a
variety of different services for students. Whether you
are Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident or an
International Student, as a student of QIBT, you have
access to all of these services.
The services and information QIBT provides range from
booking accommodation for students, through to providing
study support for students struggling with academic life.
QIBT is always looking for ways to improve the services it
provides to students, if you have any suggestions for
improving these services.
Airport Pick-up
A QIBT representative is available to meet students on
arrival at the airport and transfer them to their
accommodation. This service is provided for all commencing
students. Any student applying for Airport Pick-up must
confirm their flight details the week before arrival or
after issue of Confirmation of Enrolment. Payment of
Airport Pick-up should be made direct to driver. Price of
Airport Pick-up is A$77*.
University Park Accommodation
University Park offers excellent value with apartments
available for lease as a whole or on a room only shared
apartment basis. There are two types of apartments, the
Cambridge, which has three bedrooms with one bathroom and
the Harvard, which has three bedrooms all with their own
ensuite.
University Park Accommodation offers:
Architecturally designed fully furnished apartments

Double sized bedrooms with double beds and ceiling fans
Private ensuited bathroom facilities
Individual desk, chair light and wardrobe
Private telephone and internet access to each bedroom
24 hour on-site management
24 hour security

Prices range from A$115 - $145* per week depending on the
length of the lease and the apartment that you choose.
Price includes gas and electricity, as per lease
agreement. Students will have to supply their own linen,
personal items and pay a $10 phone connection fee.
To apply for University Park you should lodge an
application form as early as possible the semester before
starting study.
Student Council
The Student Representative Council (SRC) is a
voluntary forum that organises sporting and recreational
activities. It is also the medium through which students
can raise issues with QIBT management. Students may join
the Student Representative council subject to paying the
$68 a year fee.
The SRC provides representation, services and support to
students through:
Providing free legal consultation
Providing Academic Advocacy and Advice
Making student life at university easier by representing
student interests within the University and in the wider
community
Providing support in times of crisis
Providing support for harassment and discrimination
Funding the Food Coop, the International Students
Association, the Nunjar Bengar Students Association and
the Post Graduate Students Association
Providing a Queer safe space
Providing a Women's Room
Running the Mt Gravatt Shop
Running O'Week Activities
Providing a Student Diary
Providing the student Newspaper 'Gravity'
Organising fun activities and events on campus
Providing an avenue to empower students interested in
taking action on any issues
Student Welfare
Counsellors provide welfare and pastoral services and
are available for consultation on both personal and
general matters. Confidential student counselling is
available, by appointment, from the Academic and Welfare
Advisor. Appointments are normally made concerning issues
such as the following:
loneliness, homesickness
personal relationships, harassment
your studies and academic difficulties
accommodation difficulties
financial problems
personal trauma
employment options
concerns regarding friends and family
personal health
legal difficulties
As per the Privacy Act, any issues discussed with the
Academic and Welfare Advisor is confidential and will not
be discussed with any other person.
Study Support
Academic Skills Advisers provide assistance to
students who require additional academic support during
their course of study at QIBT. A free English and study
skills program is available each semester. Guidance in
program course selection and career planning is also
readily available.
QIBT provides a number of information sessions and
workshops for students who want to develop their skills
and increase their chances of success within their chosen
program of study. All students are encouraged to
participate in these sessions.
Transport
Griffith University provides a free shuttle bus
service between the Nathan and Mt Gravatt campus. The
service runs from 7.30am - 10.00pm during semester
(Griffith University semester) and 8.00am - 5.45pm during
semester break. Buses leave the Mt Gravatt Campus 15
minutes and 45 minutes past the hour.
Example: Buses leave the Mt Gravatt campus at 7.45am,
8.15am, 8.45am and then every half hour till 10.00pm.
QIBT is conveniently located only 10 km from the city.
Regular public bus services provide access to the city and
suburbs. Buses run every 5 -10 minutes in and out of the
city along the busway and approximately every 30 minutes
to other destinations.
Employment Services
QIBT students have full access to the Griffith
University Employment Service which is conveniently
located on the University's Nathan campus.
