|
Millsaps is a privately
supported national liberal arts college founded by members of the Methodist
Church in 1890. Consistently ranked as one of the best values in higher
education, Millsaps has been praised by U.S. News & World Report,
Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, the John Templeton Foundation,
The Fiske Guide
to Colleges, and Insight Magazine. Millsaps
College is a community committed to disciplined learning and the ideals of a
liberal arts education as keys to a rewarding life.
In keeping with its
character as a liberal arts college and its historic role in the mission of the
United Methodist Church, Millsaps seeks to provide a learning environment that
increases knowledge, deepens understanding of faith and inspires the development
of mature citizens with the intellectual capacities, ethical principles and
sense of responsibility needed for leadership in society.
The programs of the
College are designed to foster the growth of independent and critical thinking;
individual and collaborative problem-solving; creativity, sensitivity, and
tolerance; the ability to inform and challenge others; and an appreciation of
humanity and the universe.
Millsaps's faculty, staff, students and alumni understand that the Millsaps
educational experience is about changing lives. Whether it is a faculty
member who joins students for lunch to discuss an honors project or an alumnus
who forms a team of community volunteers to complete the construction of a
Habitat house, the desire to make a difference is pervasive at Millsaps.
Millsaps is a nationally acclaimed liberal arts college devoted to the
development of mature citizens with the intellectual capabilities, ethical
principles and sense of responsibility that are needed for leadership in all
sectors of society. Millsaps have always been-and shall always be-committed to freedom
of inquiry and expression in their classrooms and on their campus.
Millsaps is a selective
undergraduate institution located on 100 beautiful acres in the heart of
Jackson, the capital of Mississippi - a progressive southern metropolitan city
