                        International Accommodation

 International students
Some 2500 international students, including about 1300 from the European Union, are currently taking courses at  London South Bank. In all, there are students from more than 120 countries, many of who are attracted by the internationally recognized courses, some of which carry a high level of professional recognition. Studying in central London is also a factor and in some subjects, the international staff and student mix is an incentive in itself, creating increased opportunities for a more global education.

Accommodation
It offers a range of accommodation, from en-suite study rooms to single rooms in shared flats. For Postgraduate students, a number of quiet rooms are available. The University guarantees accommodation for all international students in halls of residence providing an application form is received by 1 August.

Help when you arrive
The University arranges to meet students from Gatwick and Heathrow airports during the period immediately before induction and enrolment in September. Full details of this will be sent to you in a booklet entitled Advance Information for International Students which also contains useful, practical information about coming to study in Britain.

Introductory course
All international students who choose South Bank are invited to attend an introductory course prior to the beginning of term. This gives you the opportunity to meet staff and students and to find out more about living and studying in Britain. The course includes sightseeing tours of the local area and social activities.

International Student Adviser
The University has a special student adviser for International students. If you have any problems during your course, such as finance, immigration, visas or homesickness, you can get expert help and advice from the trained counselor. The Careers Centre has a OJob Shopı which offers assistance in finding part students time jobs.

Cost of living
You will need at least £5800 a year to cover the cost of your accommodation, food, bills, entertainment and other expenses. Private accommodation costs from £45 a week upwards in a shared house. As a student you are eligible for a number of discounts in shops, restaurants, clubs and on public transport with your NUS card which will be issued to you at the beginning of term
