Heriot Watt University is one of the oldest higher education institution in the UK, but have one of the newest campuses in Dubai formally opened by Tom McCabe, Scottish Minister of Finance in March 2006. Existing courses in management and IT are being extended in October to mechanical, construction, and petroleum engineering, and other areas such as applied math's and food science.
