university status in 1990. The school
mascot, which was suggested by former
Dean of Student Affairs Emeritus George
F. Ralston, is a Colonel and the official
colors are blue and yellow.
Mission
To
educate our students for lifelong learning
and success in a constantly evolving
and multicultural world through a commitment
to individualized attention, exceptional
teaching, and academic excellence.
Location &
Facilities
Our campus is a compact
27 acres (a huge benefit when you have
to make the mad dash to 8am class) and
is situated in the heart of Wilkes-Barre,
PA, a city of 50,000 that's only about
2.5 hours from Manhattan and Philadelphia.
You can easily walk to Circles on the
Square, where they arguably make the
best muffins in America. Wilkes is located
right in the middle of a city complete
with mature trees and green spaces &
gives our campus a charming feel that
blends past and present.
The Wilkes University
campus is located in the historic district
of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. We offer
a variety of housing options for our
residential student population, ranging
from traditional halls to apartments
to mansions. All rooms are furnished
with one bed (extra long mattress),
dresser, desk, chair and wardrobe (or
closet space) per student. In addition
to the furniture, each room has basic
cable and telephone service. Each student
has a "Port for Every Pillow"
- an Ethernet/Internet connection per
student.
