| Overview
University of Advancing Technology(UAT) is a for-profit, family owned institution of higher education located in Tempe, Arizona. Founded in 1983, UAT is a university with multiple areas of study in technical fields, while retaining liberal arts requirements in the Fine Arts and Humanities.
Sometimes misunderstood to be a vocational school due to the history of their offerings in a vocational context, UAT purports a general education comparable to typical universities such as Arizona State University, with specific emphasis on how its specialized mission integrates technology into its general education requirements.
The institution offers unique core classes (e.g., Information Research Strategies, Technology and Society, Project Management, Intellectual Property Law), as well as all traditional ones.
An independent institution, UAT's mission is to educate students in the fields of advancing technology to become innovators of the future. The university's goals are to foster knowledge and maintain academic excellence in an environment embracing modern technology. Students learn how technology has evolved so that they may participate in its evolution.
The institution offers 20 degrees in the following areas:

In addition, the institution has an online college.
UAT offers Associate's Bachelor's and Master's degrees, as well as online continuing education. The school has an enrollment of approximately 1,200 students.
History, Accreditations n Authorizations:
Founded in 1983, the institution later named the University of Advancing Technology received accreditation in 1987 by ACECT at the diploma and occupational associate's level. First known as the CAD Institute, it offered classes in computer aided design.
In 1992, CAD Institute shifted to a new accrediting agency, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), which certified it as a junior college. In 1996, it was accredited as a four-year institution.
That same year, the CAD Institute began offering educational programs outside the CAD focus. This first non-CAD program was successful, developing into what is now the Multimedia College. UAT is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association to award diplomas, associate's degrees, bachelor's degrees and master's degrees.
UAT was designated a Center of Academic Excellence by the National Centers of Information Assurance Education (CAEIAE) sponsored by the U.S. National Security Agency and the Homeland Security Department.
Network Security programs certified by the US National Security Agency's Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation program for 4011 CNSS National Standard for Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) Professionals and 4013 National Standard for System Administrators in Information Systems Security (INFOSEC).

Housing Cost Per Year
The Residence Life Community apartments feature dorm-style living arrangements with double occupancy rooms.
The price per student is set at $7,320 per calendar year at all of our Residence Life Community buildings.
Housing Deposit
A deposit of $550 is required to reserve your space. $400 of the deposit is refundable if all move-out procedures are followed correctly. $150 is a non-refundable administrative fee.

At the end of each payment cycle, students may choose to renew their lease and continue to reside within the Residence Life Community. A lease renewal will put students in the Fall Payment Schedule regardless of when they began classes. Please refer to the UAT License Agreement for information about our Cancellation Policy.
UAT is a small private college focused exclusively on advancing and emerging technology disciplines, our academic programs tend to be unique among colleges, and often emerge years ahead of other schools. After we identify which emerging technologies will resonate with our students, we develop them into undergraduate and graduate programs.

Scholarships
An education at UAT is an investment, and we understand the amount of aid you receive may be a deciding factor in whether or not you attend. Therefore, UAT is committed to providing all our students with the information they need to finance their education.
Incoming UAT students have the opportunity to receive scholarships in the following categories: Application Scholarships and Academic Scholarships.
Application scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students who apply and demonstrate financial need and embody the mission of the university.
Academic scholarships are conditionally awarded to students who meet specific academic requirements at application and officially awarded to students who submit official documentation to UAT.
In order to be considered for an Academic Scholarships, a student needs to remit official transcripts of ACT scores, SAT scores, GED scores, High School completion, or Associate's/Bachelor's completion by the 15th day of the month prior to the start of the semester. For example, a student starting January 2011 will need to remit transcript prior to December 15, 2010.
This allows for the university to process and apply scholarship funds in a timely manner.
